Not surprised at Valencia going back to AAA. Nobody needs to carry three catchers, plus Lee can play third when the Tigers face a lefty.

Agree totally! 👍 Lee came through big last night.
The only way Valencia would get in a game is when Dingler is DHing and they pinch hit for Rogers with a lefty hitter. That way they wouldn't have to surrender the DH by having Dingler don "the tools of ignorance".
I suppose he could also spell Tork at 1B every so often.

Will Skubal & Mize be traded at the deadline or are they staying will get nothing for both as I don't neither be a Tiger once the season is over in my opinion better get a hual. I don't see the Tigers being buyers at the deadline even know the American League is pretty weak this season.

Valencia had been playing some first in Toledo partly because he’s not a good defender. He’s also 26, at the age where being a bench bat is more of an option. How long did they keep Jahmai Jones when he barely played the field? Valencia has more upside.

Speaking of Toledo, last time I was at a game Jace Jung was playing first. It was an adventure. Having Workman playing short was downright horrifying.

I like Lee, lots of range at second and the bat is catching up to major league pitching. Needs to cut down on strikeouts and walk more. He’s still young to where playing everyday day at Toledo may be more beneficial for his development. I see him as taking over for Torres next season.

The Tigers have been channeling the ghost of Earl Weaver the past two games.

No dingers tonight. 2 runs in the 1st inning were enough for the win.

Wonder if Hinch sent Skubal out for the 8th inning to let him walk off the mound to a big Comerica Park ovation?

Skubal's trade value is peaking at the right time. The public vibe seems to favor him staying, but if he's traded, it should bring a pretty good haul.

I'm very disappointed in Matt Vierling's overall performance this season. I've touted him as the kind of high WAR guy you want on the team, but today is indicative of his season -- striking out with less than two outs and the tying run at third in the bottom of the ninth. :?

And our old friend Alex Lange getting the save. Ouch.

At thins point, you have to play Lee every day. He’s had so many great at bats lately. If Keith, Torres, Torkelson, or Vierling have to sit, so be it.

The Tigers have erased a three run lead in the 5th. Valdez went five innings with 4 hits and 3 runs.

Detroit couldn't hold the lead, and left two men on base in the ninth. Royals 5, Tigers 4.

I think the Tigers looked at the underwhelming group of players who were picked to honor 125 years of Tigers baseball and thought, it doesn't take much to impress people around here. Just win a few games, get in the postseason once or twice, and smile for the fans, and you become a Tiger "legend".
