Skubal to the Dodgers according to Passan.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are acquiring Tarik Skubal for outfielder Zyhir Hope, right-hander River Ryan and right-hander Brady Smith, sources tell ESPN.

Never heard of any of these players hope there good, I have a wait and see. I wonder what the Tigers will get for Casey Mize? Proves that the Tigers were sellers at the trade deadline at least got something for Skubal will the Dodgers be giving Skubal that $500 Million dollars?

Better three players than nothing, but they waited too long. I said during the off-season that his value went down with everyday that passed. People knew the Tigers were desperate. A higher leverage deal could have been had in January at the offseason meetings.

Ryan was a major prospect but very injury prone. He’s nearly 28 and has shown great BB/K rates in the hitter friendly PCL since coming back. I could see him sliding into the rotation immediately.

Hope is the main piece of the deal. Left handed outfielder with massive power in the Texas League, but also very strikeout prone. He’ll start in Erie or Toledo.

Smith has a very lively arm in the low minors but also hittable when not striking out guys. He’s young and has time to develop, probably ends up in the bullpen eventually. I would think he goes to West Michigan.

This also shaves payroll to keep the Tigers under the luxury tax. Sadly they don’t get a major league ready right handed bat.

Hope has potential. These two pitchers, pulls on collar, yikes.
Maybe when (possibly if, the AL is bad outside of the top three in the East) the Tigers are out of playoff contention, they’ll put River in and get an idea of what they got.
