The FCC under Carr is playing favorites and is not enforcing its policies equitably.

The FCC singled out ABC because Trump - and Carr - don't like the opinions expressed on certain TV programs. If the opinions were heavily pro-Trump, the FCC would be "hands off."

I don't like the bias found on ABC and some other networks, but that doesn't mean I want the federal government to play arbiter of what's fair.

Even if ABC is not following the rules, it can still be political. Do you think the FCC under Biden would have investigated them for this? I seriously doubt it.
If it was anti Biden, yes. This is nothing new, no matter who is FCC chair.

Probably not, but then again we all know that Democrats never investigate Democrats. They only investigate Republicans.

And which Republicans have Republicans been investigating?

MW just above pretty much summed up my thoughts on this so there's not much else to add, other than to say the party in power is always going to play favorites. Both sides do it equally. Perhaps ABC is violating FCC rules, but that isn't the motivation for the FCC investigating them; that's the excuse. Just like how when a corporation wants to fire somebody, they'll patiently wait for the first time that person commits a terminable offense, and the, GONE.

Are you saying the broadcasters can break whatever rules they want if they lean toward the party that's in power?

If ABC is breaking the rules, THAT is motivation to investigate.

If the FCC didn't investigate, they wouldn't be doing their job! That's what the FCC is there to do. Keep the broadcasters from breaking the rules that all broadcasters are suppose to follow, no matter which political party is in power.

They're certainly way less likely to be investigated. That's just a political fact. Not saying I agree with it.

Looks like tvbobn agrees with us that rule enforcement shouldn't be selective and that the FCC shouldn't play "favorites."

The rules should be applied equally to all parties.

Now, the reasonableness of certain rules is a whole other matter!

Do we even need content enforcement anymore? It seems like a farce. Broadcast has become such a small part of the scope of the FCC these days, there are likely better uses of the staff's time.

I'm suuuuure the timing is purely coincidental and apolitical! 🙄

https://www.reuters.com/business/disney ... 026-05-28/
The early reviews - the first for a major TV broadcaster in more than 50 years - were ordered in April a day after Trump urged ABC to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. Disney said the FCC early license renewal order was "unlawful, arbitrary, and unconstitutional" and violates its First Amendment free speech rights.

It doesn't take a genius to sense TC was being ironic and facetious. :rolleyes

As to the rest of this thread, it also doesn't take a genius to see how the current FCC, or at least its chairman, is kowtowing to the whims of the present administration.
