F.C.C. Orders a Review of ABC’s Broadcast Licenses

The agency said the review was related to the network’s diversity and inclusion policies. But it came amid a fight between the president and the network’s late night host, Jimmy Kimmel.

Federal regulators on Tuesday ordered a review of all station licenses owned by ABC, an extraordinary move to pressure a major television network whose programming has frequently angered President Trump.

The agency overseeing the review, the Federal Communications Commission, said in a filing that the action was related to an investigation into ABC’s diversity and inclusion policies. But it came in the middle of a fight this week between Mr. Trump and the network’s late night host, Jimmy Kimmel, that prompted the president to demand that ABC fire Mr. Kimmel.

The license review represented an escalation by the Trump administration and the president to punish major media outlets for their coverage. Mr. Trump has personally sued several news organizations, including The New York Times, and the Pentagon has tried to sharply restrict news media access.

Mr. Trump’s F.C.C. chairman, Brendan Carr, has repeatedly threatened to take action against broadcasters, including to take away their valuable station licenses. His agency’s action on Tuesday was the first direct step toward potentially doing so.

TC, your TDS is showing. You seem to think everything is political since Trump is in office, when sometimes it's not. Sometimes stations don't follow the actual rules that they're suppose to follow per their licenses. When they get caught you want to blame Trump. I think FCC is just investigating if they're following the rules or not. On the surface, they're not!

FCC ORDERS TWO TELEVISION GROUPS TO FILE EARLY
LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATIONS DURING ONGOING
INVESTIGATIONS
On April 28, 2026, the FCC’s Media Bureau Video Division
Chief issued an Order requiring Disney’s ABC to file early
renewal applications for its eight owned television stations
as part of an ongoing investigation.
The Order cites to the ongoing investigation launched last
year into the stations’ DEI practices and for non-compliance
with the Communications Act. It also cites Section 73.3539
(c) of the rules which expressly allows the FCC to direct a
licensee to file a renewal application by a date certain if the
FCC deems it essential to the conduct of an investigation.
The Order makes clear that the Bureau considers the
renewal applications essential and gives ABC until May 28th
to file the applications. The same cited rule indicates that if
a licensee fails to file the renewal applications within the
prescribed time, the investigation proceeds as if a renewal
application had been filed.
One day prior to the Disney/ABC Order, the Media Bureau
Video Division Chief issued a similar order to Bridge News,
LLC, licensee of several Class A and LPTV stations,
ordering it to also file early renewal applications no later
than May 27th as part of an ongoing investigation into
apparent numerous unauthorized transfers of control.
While ordering stations to file early renewal applications is
unusual, it is not unprecedented. The FCC uses license
renewal in numerous ways to enforce its rules or bring
stations into compliance. A much more common tool is to
address rule violations in connection with license renewal
through consent decrees and, in egregious cases, short-
term license renewals of one to three years.

So this is one of those acronyms Spectrum folks will sometimes use thinking the world knows or cares about.

I'm going to guess it comes from some AM talk show that a handful of people still listen to. In truth, it's a very very small number of people, so you shouldn't be surprised when I tell you, I have no idea what you are babbling about, but keep up the good work. And, you should probably stock up on the prepper kits they sell too, you may need to ward off an immigrant farm worker who is planning to attack you.

In the meantime, the FCC has infact become a political tool for this administration, as it has been clearly established by the types of journalists who have real education in the field. Most Americans, (who by the way are horrified with the state of our country), don't even have a way to listen to the stuff you appear to spend your time with.

You are one of the few people watching or reading the propaganda spewing from the fake news organizations like MS Now. Do you get your news and information from the ladies on The View? You seem to think their opinions are real news. As to the state of the country, have you looked at the stock market lately?

Your view of the world isn't in line with the real world. You have a very inflated opinion of yourself and seem to believe that whatever you say is the truth, but the fact is most of what you post is just "your opinion". Do you really think the rest of us think like you? Some of us understand the bias of your posts.

Even if ABC is not following the rules, it can still be political. Do you think the FCC under Biden would have investigated them for this? I seriously doubt it.
