UAW Strike

Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.
Re: UAW Strike
So you believe she puts in 7 14 hour days or 5 19 hour days? Obviously she’s constantly around to check emails or answer calls but that’s most of the world now. But you are doing some sort of bizarre “that poor woman! She works so hard she had to hire someone to sleep for her!!!” Routine.Matt wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 9:51 amThe ignorance of a union supporter...Rate This wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 9:39 amSo you think she puts in 96 hours a week? I highly doubt it’s much over 60.Matt wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 7:38 amThis is a bullshit article and premise. 32 hours is probably about a third or less of Mary Barra's work week, btw.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 10:24 pmMary Barra’s pay is directly linked to how much she can underpay the average line worker: https://newrepublic.com/post/175598/gm- ... tid=Zxz2cZ
Sincerely someone who regularly puts in 60 or more hours a week.
Re: UAW Strike
Yea, but I'll bet it doesn't happen that often, and when it does it's for someone who already knew what model they wanted and were going to buy, they just were looking to get a discount on it.
Re: UAW Strike
For years there was a Ford plant where I live. Million square feet. When Ford closed it they gave it to the city and fled the area. The only thing left behind is the A plan for former employees to use at our Ford dealer.
Re: UAW Strike
Maybe those of you in radio that seem jealous about the UAW should consider unionizing.

Re: UAW Strike
And what would they strike for? Only having to play Styx 4 times a day instead of 5? Only voice tracking in markets that start with the same letter as their first name?
There is so much cynicism in this thread it's unreal. It's always okay when the corporate overlords make hand over fist but as soon as the peon workers want more, it's the end of the world.

There's a big difference between "wanting more" and "effectively shutting down the company because it won't cave to your demands."
Re: UAW Strike
Negotiate with your strengths. Perhaps strikes are so effective they offend corporate patsies.

Re: UAW Strike
Imagine how much more successful those companies could be if they had employees actually competing based on their skills and contributions. If they actually put in 20% more effort (not even really working "harder") there could be 20% less of those front-line workers and they could all be paid 20% more (actually probably more like 30-40% more, because of the reduction in "overhead of those un-needed extra employees!).

That would be absolutely unmanageable…km1125 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 10:18 pmImagine how much more successful those companies could be if they had employees actually competing based on their skills and contributions. Re: UAW Strike
It's not unmanageable, but it would take a GIANT culture shift. The reality is that these people have assigned tasks and are not pushed to grow and better themselves.Rate This wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 8:30 amThat would be absolutely unmanageable…km1125 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 10:18 pmImagine how much more successful those companies could be if they had employees actually competing based on their skills and contributions. The Big 3's biggest problem is usage of substandard materials (e.g. plastics in the engine compartment) and poor engineering.
Dry dual clutch transmission. Interference design with the water pump. Shitty electrical wiring harnesses. 'Nuff said.

The article isn’t bullshit. I will say that they should work a 40 hour week but should be given the ability to flex to 4 10’s if they want.Matt wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 7:38 amThis is a bullshit article and premise. 32 hours is probably about a third or less of Mary Barra's work week, btw.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 10:24 pmMary Barra’s pay is directly linked to how much she can underpay the average line worker: https://newrepublic.com/post/175598/gm- ... tid=Zxz2cZ
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

The first two are Ford. Chain-driven water pumps are the dumbest idea ever. If the seals go, the water mixes with oil and destroys the whole engine. Drive the water pump off the alternator belt!MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 3:41 pmThe Big 3's biggest problem is usage of substandard materials (e.g. plastics in the engine compartment) and poor engineering.
