Beasley's revenue from its Detroit cluster plunges 24.5% from 2024 to 2025

WOW. See slide #6. Detroit had the worst year to year revenue regression of all of Beasley's markets.

No wonder the prior market manager was recently demoted!

Kudos to Beasley for providing market level data in public SEC filings. Many publicly traded broadcast companies are far less transparent.

On slide #14, the company considers 101 WRIF and 105.1 The Bounce its "marquis" (I presume they meant "marquee") brands locally. I am surprised WCSX did not receive that designation instead of WMGC. WCSX might be responsible for a large chunk of cluster revenue erosion. This may also explain the recent decision to add U-M sports broadcasts.

Slide #15 shows estimated 2024 revenue levels by cluster. These are BIA estimates, so the figures are subject to error. Audacy is the clear leader in Detroit, but bear in mind 97.1 and 950 are expensive to operate. iHeart is a strong #2.

I have a friend that, prior to the UofM affiliation, listened exclusively and faithfully only to WCSX. They were not happy when the music stopped and now they listen to WLLZ or CKUE Cool FM (if it is coming in good). I"ve seen many negative Facebook comments regarding the affiliation.

The entire company lost almost 15% year over year. I wonder if that is typical for the industry as a whole.

They keep pointing to market share, but investors really don't care about that, as much as they do revenue. The P&L summary is abysmal. They sure picked the right colors for the report: Red being the feature.

Their market cap is a measley $10 million.

Perhaps that should be the company's new nickname! "Measley."

I think a strategic transaction of some type involving Beasley and Cumulus is possible later this year.

I also suspect Beasley isn't done selling assets. Keep an eye on Connoisseur especially.

Why do you say that? Connoisseur has been in buy, buy, buy mode lately. While I don’t think they’d hold every market, picking up Beasley would mean picking up five top twenty markets and one that won’t be too far from top twenty-five by the end of the decade. Also, Connoisseur hasn’t had too much of a problem selling off the smaller markets they picked up from Alpha.

I don't see Beasley having a fire sale. That is how Connoisseur likes to buy things. Major market is a different animal than mid-markets.

Political advertising is probably the main reason for the drop off. Looking at media companies year to year revenue comparisons explaines why you won't see any of them advocating for curbs on the dirty dark money that fuels US politicians.
