Detroit SportsNet - New TV Home of the Tigers & Red Wings

Unread post by Ken H »

From the Detroit News, March 23, 2026

Tigers' TV logistics going down to the wire: 'Nothing to worry about'

The Tigers open the regular season Thursday in San Diego, and the team says the new TV channel, Detroit SportsNet, will be available via most major cable providers by then.

And the Tigers, with Opening Day set for Thursday in San Diego, are putting together the finishing touches on their move to a new television platform, Detroit SportsNet.

The Tigers are moving to the MLB Media distribution umbrella for the 2026 season, with FanDuel Sports Network Detroit's parent company on the brink of shutting down.

"If you watched Tigers or Red Wings games through your cable package last year, there's a good chance no action will be needed to watch moving forward," Fidelman wrote in his post on X (formerly Twitter). "We'll share a full list of cable/satellite providers carrying DSN, along with channel assignments, soon after the agreements are finalized. Full disclosure: this could come as late as the morning of Opening Day."

Except for the fact the Wings and Pistons are still playing on FanDuel, we could have expected to see Detroit SportsNet on the same channels on most pay TV providers. It’s probably a pain in the you know what to add the two new channels for just a few weeks until FanDuel is kaput.

Like it’s been posted elsewhere, Spectrum has DSN on channel 213. It’s just a blue screen for now, but the guide lists the channel.

I just checked that for myself where I have access to that system. I personally don’t have cable, so I’m waiting to see what DirecTV does.

It's nice someone from the front office finally felt compelled to address the situation.

Rightly or wrongly, he will have egg on his face if a major cable system screws this up.

Cable systems are terrible to deal with in all respects.

Also in the local feeds from Daniella Bruce, the new Detroit SportsNet app will not be available on Opening Day. No word on when, but it will work like the FanDuel app and let you login using your pay TV provider’s credentials, no word on when that will happen either.

I have Direct TV stream....213 MLB/part of my Ultimate package/shows Tigers--Padres on Thursday at 4pm....still nothing on the dual 663 Fan Duel channels guide pertaining to any DSN switch or Tigers broadcasts...I am hoping that there will be NO extra cost with my plan on Direct TV stream..and hoping DSN will show up with the Tigers broadcasts....

Well, my best guess is that Detroit SportsNet will show up on channel 663-3 for the Opening Day game on Thursday. We will find out between now and worse case then.

About two weeks ago I subscribed to Detroit Sportsnet. I've got no confidence when the season starts I will be able to easily access and login. Hope I'm wrong. Last week they emailed me saying because I was an early subscriber two future Tiger tickets will be delivered. No dates given on the tickets based upon blackouts ticket availability etc.

I’ve had MLB.TV for a number of years and it’s always been very good compared to other subscription apps. Since MLB is managing the Detroit SportsNet app, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with how good it works for the games themselves. The other content may be lacking because it’s so new, but we shall see.

If any of you still have Fubo, this help topic may be useful: https://support.fubo.tv/hc/en-us/articl ... le-on-Fubo
NO mention of "Detroit Sports Net" yet, but Fubo has Fan Duel, so maybe they'll update that page once the Tigers regular season begins.

Detroit Sports Net is now live on Spectrum Cable channel 213! No more blue screen. The screen now shows a promo for today's game. Pregame starts at 3:30.

And anywhere else the Tigers are considered in market, which is the entirety of Michigan plus northwest Ohio about as far as Sandusky and Marion. Got to either subscribe to the Tigers in market streaming package or have the new channel.
