CBS News Radio Shutting Down After Nearly 100 Years On Air
CBS News Radio Shutting Down After Nearly 100 Years On Air
The announcement came as part of a press release detailing CBS' laying off of 6% of its news staff.
Assuming this means the end of WWJ 950's affiliation with CBS News, and their top-of-hour CBS newscasts (which are only about two minutes long now) will disappear.

Sad to hear but not surprised. I always liked their 10 minute "World News Roundup," which aired twice a day, weekdays at 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The "long form" version of WNR has not been heard in Detroit for many years, nor "The World Tonight" evening version. I think headline content up to the 3 min. break was all we get anymore.80sTalkRadioFan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2026 10:13 pm Sad to hear but not surprised. I used to enjoy catching the hour-long "Weekend Roundup" on WBBM or WCCO. Don't think WWJ ever carried it.

The only area station I know of, which used to air the entire 10 minutes of the CBS News Roundup was WFOB-AM 1430 in Fostoria Ohio and I don't think they air it anymore either.

Does anyone know what time the last CBS news broadcast will be on May 22?

WTVB in Coldwater is transitioning to NBC News Radio on May 20. As an aside, I always remembered them (and sister station WNWN) as an ABC affiliate, and I don't recall when they transitioned to CBS (certainly after I moved from Branch County in 2002).

WGL Fort Wayne switched to Townhall, but still airing the CBS News 24/7 feed otherwise, other than recorded local stories, some clearly done by AI.
