Well, I admire the way they’re thinking outside the box but this is so strange. Imagine being told there’s no money for raises but they open a coffee shop? I guess they need to make money any way they can.

This might be the weirdest thing I’ve seen in Detroit TV in decades.

Maybe if it turns a profit it could fund raises.
A quick Google Maps search shows what I expected... competition.
I make my coffee at home so I'm not in the loop. But for people who buy their coffee retail do they swear by a certain location or brand? Would a Biggby guy be caught dead in a Starbucks or Caribou? Or is it any port in a storm?

If Ron Cameron was still alive, he could give WDIV advice on how to combine journalism with food service.

Detroit Free Press (5/21/93)

This new coffee shop could carve a niche for itself if it replicates the chaotic excitement of this live remote that Cameron did from a pizza restaurant:

This is really weird. Do people really want to go to a coffee shop and accidentally be part of a live broadcast? Do people go to a coffee shop for conversations about community, connection, and trusted journalism with some blowhard news anchor?

Like other posters, I appreciate out of the box thinking in an attempt to appeal to different audiences. But what will set this apart from the million other coffee shops out there other than the chance to wave like an idiot in the background of a live TV shot?

Opens in September, and will quietly disappear by next summer.

It’s been a while since a Ron Cameron reference entered these boards!!! If, and I do mean if, Ron was still alive and posted up at a hotel/motel in the nearby area, I can guarantee he would stop in and try and sell some ads at this new coffeehouse! Kim DeGuilio would have to get on the lookout!

Well, if the coffee is anything like their newscast lately I wouldn’t drink it.

Did I read correctly that "Live in the D" will soon broadcast from Plymouth instead of WDIV's studios?

Nothing screams "D" (Detroit) like a lilly white outlying suburb!

How many more coffee shops does downtown Plymouth need? That’s not even counting the Old Village or the township.
