When the latest Tiger uniforms were announced, people said that they might get confused with the uniforms of the Baltimore Orioles.

No kidding.

I'm glad that the Tigers will wear orange for a few games along with navy on the road which should always where the english D I don't get why the road jerseys have to have the city name on it along with gray as well.

The always-expected pre-season arm troubles have escalated. Right elbow inflammation is the current diagnosis for promising righthander Troy Melton who's not expected to be ready for opening day. The prescription is for two weeks of not throwing followed by re-examination. Add Melton to the list which currently includes Reese Olson (out for the year) and Jackson Jobe (recovering from Tommy John surgery).

It makes you wonder what the Tigers will have this time next year, with Skubal, Mize, and Flaherty free agents, and Verlander maybe in his last year.

When has "elbow inflammation" not meant Tommy John surgery coming in the next 9 months or sooner? Never?

Ugh.

100%.

Melton was the guy I was most excited to see progress this year too.

Tigers Public Relations tweet today regarding "TV"/streaming coverage for Spring Training games:

"Games on March 1st, 7th, and 21st will be produced by the Tigers/MLB, featuring our broadcasters.

"All games noted in the MLBtv and cable/satellite columns will be blackout-free in our home television territory."

I'll note that there's also a posted image that shows some other games that will be available in the MLB app (and some simultaneously on the MLB Network that is on cable, satellite/streaming services). Those apparently will be using talent not from the Tigers.

Replies include some asking when will Regular Season cost and availability be announced. No responses as of yet from the Tigers.

One commenter asked what will become of his remaining months of the annual Fan Duel Sports subscription he got a couple of months ago.

My personal take is that we'll hear about the Regular Season in mid-March. Opening Day is Thurs. 3/26 after all.

Cheers! ~~ Statmanmi

All this makes me miss the old "April in the D" promotion ridiculousness on Fox Sports Detroit.

Sounds like the first round NBA and NHL playoffs (assuming the Wings hang on and make it) will all be available via the leagues' national TV partners instead of the old model of having on the RSNs too. I'm a homer at heart and will miss the local folks doing the first round.

Interesting that a Tigers package through MLB.TV is not being marketed at this time. We're truly in limbo at the moment.

Melton's injury is a real blow. I was looking forward to seeing him develop further, be it in Toledo or Detroit later in the season.

Fingers crossed it isn’t Tommy John.

Finally, a couple of spring training wins. The bats really came out (16-8 on Friday, 12-3 yesterday).

Kevin McConigle is hitting .462, near the top for Tigers playing regularly.

On the down side, Parker Meadows is hitting only .071.

I think the orange shirts look terrible when blended with the traditional white pants. They should've changed the pant color.
