WDKL remains at lower power without HD and was able to get a handful of first adjacent catches on 102.5 and 102.9 FM this morning.


On 102.5: WIOG Bay City (dominant), WZOO (pretty weak but caught part of the station ID of " W-Z-O..." and matched WZOO Edgewood Ohio with the classic hits format I was hearing. Later got a few blurts out of K-Love on 102.5 (presumably WKVR Baltimore Ohio since it's the closest K-Love station on 102.5).

Over to 102.9: WWWW-FM from Ann Arbor was dominating this channel most of the time. Later got a rock station cutting in which went to commercial break with a promotional track mentioning "Y103", this would be from WYFM Sharon Pennsylvania, serving the Youngstown-Warren market.

Some catching was in the car, but mostly with my AM/FM hearing protectors while outside cutting grass.

Later got a few blurts out of K-Love on 102.5 (presumably WKVR Baltimore Ohio since it's the closest K-Love station on 102.5).

Not sure where you are located, but your K-Love station could possibly be WKMH out of Hudson/Hillsdale. It sure is a lot closer than Baltimore, OH. This station used to be a rock station called The BUZZ.

W292DK 106.3 appears to be off-air this morning, as I had a lock on CHKS across I-696 from I-94 almost to Telegraph.

What courses do you like over on that side of the state? I'm over there some times with my clubs. I generally play Apple Mountain, Sawmill, and Bay City Country Club. I've enjoyed Valley View, but it's been a few years since I played there.

Is it even legal for WLCO to be picking up 96.7's audio over the air? Seems to me that means the AM station is relaying the translator instead of the other way around.

In any case, here are a few highlights from this morning (07/07) in Whitmore Lake:

89.9 WRRO Catholic station from NW OH with no sign of CBE
91.5 WMHW and WVAV fighting it out with WUOM's HD still off (hope it stays off)
95.3 WCFX - perfect RDS
101.5 WMJZ - I figured this wasn't WWBN because they were playing Mighty Mighty Bosstones. After the next song I heard the confirming "Eagle 101-5" ID.
103.1 WGDN with limited interference from WWWW, which currently has its HD turned off
104.9 WQBX very strong
106.3 WGLM - Rockwell/Michael Jackson "Somebody's Watching Me" into Queen "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," confirmed by playlist on OnlineRadioBox

I was thinking that the Eagle 101.5 could be WMTE Manistee, but I looked at WMJZ's record on FCCdata.org and they've been back at their licensed specifications for a few months now (WMJZ is one of the stations that lost their tower in the ice storm).

Back on topic, today I had several Chicago stations in with RDS in the Grand Rapids area, including 91.5 WBEZ, 91.9 WJCH, 97.1 WDRV, 101.1 WKQX, 103.1 WPNA, and 106.7 WPPN

One of my Facebook friends reported getting 88.7 WIAA in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. This has been pretty good tropo.

W292DK 106.3 appears to be off-air this morning, as I had a lock on CHKS across I-696 from I-94 almost to Telegraph.

It's was off since at least Saturday to sometime on Tuesday. WDKL was off air completely Saturday night/Sunday morning. Just checked and they have the main HD transmitter back on, along with all of the Air1 translators.

Wow. Tonight/this morning's conditions prompted catches on so many frequencies. Many of these are new, some are not, but a great time to stay up unexpectedly. 2 Canadian stations wiped away to US stations and a few Detroit translators also were gone or almost gone.

103.7 WCKY-FM on a analog clock radio stealing W280EL 103.9, this prompted a bandscan at midnight.

Back as an undergrad at SVSU, I lived in an apartment complex that gave us free memberships to Crooked Creek / Swan Valley, so I played a ton of golf there back in the 90s. I should play rounds at those two, for old times sake!
