Welcome to the show, I guess you all know why you're here
His name is Ronnie and he became a host this year
If you want to pick his brain, you've got to call his show
Just think up a question, dial up your tel'phone
Who knows where the call will end

Hey you trashing umps, so sorry, this call is done
If you think that I'm the greatest, let's have some fun
Hey all you Buzzboard cretins, you need to get a life
'Cause you ain't gonna bother me with all that you say
Although you think you might

Ron's not gonna fake it
Ron's not gonna fake it
Ron's not gonna fake it
Ron's not gonna fake it

Ron's not gonna fake it, never did and never will
Ron's not gonna fake it, gonna break it, gonna shake it
Can't forget him if we tried

Now you have heard Ron, your mind is truly blown
You can't speak either, you're left in shock
Callers say nonsense, poor ad reads complete the scene
Here comes Luke or Martin to guide you to
The chance to talk with Ron

Ron's not gonna fake it
Ron's not gonna fake it
Ron's not gonna fake it
Ron's not gonna fake it

Ron's not gonna fake it, never did and never will
Don't want no real standards and as far as we can tell
Ron ain't gonna fake it, never did and never will
Ron ain't gonna fake it, he's orating, bloviating
Can't forget him if we tried

Ron's orating, bloviating
Can't forget him if we tried

See me (On Sports View Today),
Hear me (On Sports Talk with Ron Cameron),
Read me (In Sport Fans' Journal),
Taste me (Restaurant food)

See me, hear me, read me, taste me
See me, hear me, read me, taste me
See me, hear me, read me, taste me

Listening to you, I get amusement
Gazing at you, tells me you're real
Following you, is a wild journey
I get excitement that's bizarre
Right behind you, I see the millions
Who wait, for your next program
From you, come strong opinions
From you, very strange stories

Ron Cameron: The Musical just added another great number. Well done!

Thanks. This song popped up on my Amazon Music feed, and before I knew it, I was on another compulsive journey to satirize the Ron Cameron Experience.

The episode of To Tell the Truth that Ron thought was broadcast in 1957 (https://www.mibuzzboard.com/phpBB3/view ... 89#p748489).

I wonder if the Roman numerals at the end threw him off (MCMLXXIII).

I remember calling in and attempting to correct Ron about the year citing there were no game shows in color in 1957 and Chuck Norris wasn't 17 years old in that episode etc. Ron as usual took a defensive stance knowing full well he was confused (and probably dazed). And as far as Ron understanding Roman numerals that certainly never happened much like at Super Bowl time Ron only focused on the teams in the game and never what Super Bowl it was. For Ron an "X" only marked the spot and nothing more.

April Fool's Day, when Ron Cameron fans fondly remember Ron's false promises—restaurants, next week's guests, etc. We really wanted to believe him... :)

It seems Ron's calendar was always set on April 1st.

I remember fondly of stopping in at his last venture which was a pizza place in Livonia at Plymouth/Merriman. It lasted a whopping six or so weeks in May/June 2016. And then we had eight years of his chatter about the next joint he was going to open all of which never came to fruition. And naturally it was always the employees, suppliers, local politicians, etc. fault for his business failures in the past. As far as upcoming guests I called him out a few times on that and his patented response was "I lost his number". One of a kind to be sure.

I think with Ron, self-delusion was a survival technique, to keep from completely giving up in the face of old age. Many people probably do the same thing, but to a much lesser extent. But Ron took it to the extreme, with an edge of desperation.

As I've written before, Ron Cameron's story was worth a doctoral thesis.

Maybe. I was in a Leo's Coney Island in Plymouth at about 9 a.m. this morning. People in Tigers garb kept coming in, and I heard one of them say, "The bus leaves at 10!"

Joe Lapointe's great memorial article about Ron includes their first encounter on Opening Day 1967:
I first met Ron Cameron on Opening Day of the 1967 baseball season when I worked as a “badge boy” usher at Tiger Stadium.

Unescorted, Cameron sat down in an empty, wooden, green-painted chair in my reserved section in the upper deck on the first-base side of the home-plate backstop. At age 15, I held power and responsibility on the aisle between Sections 22 and 23.

“May I see your ticket?” I asked Cameron.

“I don’t need a ticket,” Cameron explained to me, with a smile. “I’m always here.”

We have hit another milestone in the grand career of Big Jake Rogers. After yesterday's game Big Jake has 199 hits in 1,001 career at bats for a stellar .199 lifetime average which is .15 lower than the Great Jim Price's lifetime batting average. And to think Ron put Jake in the class with Johnny Bench defensively behind the plate. The only thing that Johnny and Jake can relate to is one is a Hall of Famer and the other belongs on the bench till the end of time.

Of course he's 1 for 1 when he's trying to make contact with his head.

Heard Martin on WPON again yesterday. He was going over some of the stations and shows he’s worked over the years. He didn’t mention anything about the Ron Cameron Extravaganza.
