No 66-2 & NBC for Several Places
No 66-2 & NBC for Several Places
Something that should have been addressed with Sinclair is that NBC is no longer available in localized areas served by Dish Network or DirecTV, as Roar has replaced the WEYI signal. This includes various hotels, offices, hospitals, senior centers, and buildings that use a localized satellite version. With the Super Bowl and Olympic Winter Games, this should probably be addressed.

Just comes to show how much thought Sinclair put into this....
Just get a good antenna and a portable antenna-capable tv set and boom problem solved.

Very stupid, incompetent people evidently work for Sinclair, if what's claimed in the OP is true.

All I can confirm is that on Dish Network, Channel 25, which was previously WEYI 25 (NBC) is now WSMH2 (so still the same NBC channel). ROAR was put on channel 26.
That's interesting that localized services are receiving ROAR instead since the programming on Dish Channel 25 remains unchanged (changed in name only).

I have DirecTV and there’s been no issue with NBC still on 25. It just says WSMH-DT

A quick search of Directv and Dish's websites show WSMH/NBC being available.
Seems whoever told you that is full of it.

It's the places that have the specialized lineups. There is no list that I am aware of. As an example, the provider is Dish Network, uses DirecTV for FanDuel, and builds a lineup of channels for the building. Residents watch the specialized lineup. I was going to wait to share it until after the Super Bowl, but it wouldnt be right to have people shut out over something they cant control. 25 already has a low ratings book. I can confirm there are several retirement communities and hospitals for sure in the market where it's happening.

I'm glad to hear the issue is more isolated than I thought. Still, either DirecTV, Dish, Sinclair or all of the above need to get off their butts and make this right for the hotels, hospitals, apartment complexes, senior living centers, etc. in the area where NBC programming has vanished.

Re: No 66-2 & NBC for Several Places
Is there any reason they can't display their channel as 25.1 even though it is broadcasting from the 66 tower? It seems odd to promote ROAR to a .1 channel number. We have something like that in West Michigan where 15.1, 15.2 and 15.3 all come from different transmitters so that WXSP can be ATSC 3.0.

Re: No 66-2 & NBC for Several Places
WEYI would need to enter into a formal RF channel sharing arrangement with WSMH, which would require FCC approval, to be able to do that, and NBC programming would need to be broadcast using the WEYI license.
Instead, what happened here is WEYI disaffiliated from NBC and WSMH added the NBC affiliation.

Same in SE michigan with WMYD and the channels (20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4), due to ATSC 3 originating on the WMYD transmitterJason Kragt wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 6:33 pm We have something like that in West Michigan where 15.1, 15.2 and 15.3 all come from different transmitters so that WXSP can be ATSC 3.0.

I guess it will just take time for me to get used to the changes. I always thought that major network affiliations were prized possessions. Stations would fight for them. Now, stations are satisfied airing nothing more than low-cost rerun networks.
Re: No 66-2 & NBC for Several Places
This still hasn't been resolved. The Super Bowl will be on Peacock, so take a streaming stick if you are visiting places in Mid-Michigan.
