Someone didn’t know Sam very well, if at all.

David Custer won his lawsuit today.
40k to his pocket, and lawyer/legal fees covered. Approx. 150k total.

So 6 months of salary for David for his win. Was it worth ruining your broadcasting career?

David's attorney made more that twice of what Custer won.

I honestly did not think he would win that lawsuit.

I wouldn't overlook this tidbit...
In the lawsuit, Custer stated he had talked with WNEM's Human Resources Department in support of a workplace complaint made by his co-anchor, Meg McLeod. She testified this week that her contract is up in March 2026, and if Frierson and Soboleski are still leading the station, she will not renew her contract.

With the paltry amount he got, was it really a win?

Hoping that Allen Media Group has sold ABC12 by then. It would be nice to see Meg go there

Gray Media needs to reaccess its management team in Saginaw.
David won because law was violated. Management should have known better. In my opinion. It's pretty dirty to harass Meg. She is a wonderful person and strong anchor.

There's little money left in TV news, especially in smaller markets.

Well known talent left & right has left broadcasting for good. Many such individuals have joined public relations or communications departments of government agencies, health systems or large corporations.

What I'd love to know is if the person or persons guilty of the misdeeds against Custer are still employed by WNEM. If Custer's legal fees were north of $100k, I suspect the same holds true for WNEM. So, conceivably, WNEM / Gray (or its insurer) will be coughing up a cool quarter million between their own legal fees, Custer's legal fees, and the damages awarded.

It seems not having to live in Flint could also be considered a win.

The news director and station manager are still there. The article stated that Custer’s former co anchor testified that if they’re still there when her contract expires next March, she’s leaving

I’m sure his new employer, Sheriff Chris Swanson AKA Sheriff Hollywood, doesn’t care
