Being annoying and bumping this thread too, sorry. But man, what a great early 89X air check. That was fun. Gnyp! We even heard Vince Cannova for a bit. That was way before I ever listened (I was only 10 at that point) so it's cool to hear now.

Clearly 89X will be a major contender in the next ratings. If this board is any proof of the popularity of better mixed alternative rock in Metro Detroit I think its safe to say they're onto something big.

EXCEPT They are a Canadian station. And wont be in the US/Detroit ratings. Yes, they will show up, but it wont be reported anywhere unless you have access to the actual Neilsen ratings, and even then it will be under the line. Might be "something big" but unless it does anything in Windsor/Essex it wont be that well publicized.

If they do not have a PPM encoder, they won't show up in U.S. Nielsen results for subscribers, either.

Outside of the first few weeks on the air, I haven't been tremendously impressed. Our admin thinks 98.7 is horrible, but I think it's a hell of a lot better than when they had the church of Lazblow, JuiceWrld, and Machine Gun Kelly every 20 minutes. I am not mad. The WRIF is super stale.

It's not horrible, just mediocre.

During the Lazblow / Two Minute Promise era, though, 98.7 was indeed truly horrible.

I was hoping to hear more gems from the 90s on 89X.

In the last few weeks, i've noticed that WFNT Adrian makes CIMX somewhat unlistenable in more areas than I previously thought. Pretty much anywhere south of 94 and west of Whittaker Rd or so, you can hear WFNT starting to eat into it. I've noticed it a lot more recently in Milan. Just an observation

That's a shame. 89X used to be receivable with little difficulty from near Fenton all the way down US 23 to Toledo.

Now, the signal is jammed in Toledo, it's jammed in Dundee and Milan, and it's even jammed in parts of Brighton (even moreso north of there, I would assume).

By the way, Myles Smith is my new most hated artist. His sappy music belongs on a wimpy AC station.

What would block 89X in Brighton? WHSR? Their signal has a null toward Windsor and I haven't heard it at all in Brighton in my frequent outings that way. 89X is pretty solid in Whitmore Lake, except during tropo openings that bring in WIAA. Hopefully it stays that way...
