Harry Belafonte
Harry Belafonte
Harry Belafonte, civil rights activist and musician, has died at the age of 96. I love that scene in Beetlejuice.
Re: Harry Belafonte
Back in the early 70s I was working up in a small Ontario town. One night some of the women from the workplace took a bus trip to Toronto to attend a performance by Belafonte.
They came back the next day feeling embittered and betrayed.
"We didn't know he was going to be coloured. They don't tell you that when you buy the ticket."

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

96, that's pretty amazing. Great talent as well.

I can't be the only one surprised he hadn't died years ago.

I love Harry's music. I always thought he was from the Caribbean with his singing style, but he was a lifelong New Yorker. He's probably the first tropical music superstar, coming before Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffett. He was a great civil rights activist. May he R.I.P.

I can hear the echoes of Harry sayin' "Day O" during the Detroit Tigers speakers!!!
