Ron Cameron
Re: Ron Cameron
No Kurt tonight? I hope he's okay.
Re: Ron Cameron
As Ron begs in vain for callers, it dawns on me that women - who, as Ron has said, comprise the vast majority of his audience - are notorious for being less likely to call into radio talk shows. Maybe Ron should ease up on his talk of vacationing & otherwise palling around with young athletes & try more to gin up male listenership.
Re: Ron Cameron
An email from during the week? Ralph from Novi? I think he worked for the insurance company. Welcome back, Ralph!
Re: Ron Cameron
Another email from the week has been discovered! What are the chances?!

Re: Ron Cameron
I can't see how Ron or the advertisers are making any kind of money off this 3 hr Sunday night show. What was the over/under on the call count, 10? Ron just talking to himself since 8pm.
Re: Ron Cameron
And four of those calls were Cowboy & Warren Greg calling twice. I think Greg's second call - coming after the newly-discovered "emails" - might've been a pity call. Ron would've ben smarter to say that those "questions" were from callers who didn't want to go on the air. Without a producer to give him access to emails (from whenever), I'd like Ron to explain the process by which these "emails" were unearthed.
Re: Ron Cameron
Could the day be near when Ron does a 3 hr. show and there are no callers?
Re: Ron Cameron
Not as long as Kurt (“the Hurt”) & Cowboy have breath (&, in Cowboy’s case, Ron continues to have a toll-free number). But it’s something that Ron seems to have lost JJ from Trenton (‘I hope he’s okay’). LBJ (the president, not the basketball player) was reported to have said that if he “lost” Cronkite, he “lost” America. In Ron’s case, losing JJ may have been a bellwether.

Re: Ron Cameron
I may have asked this before, but I don’t think I asked it this way
What do you think makes him continue to do the show that he he pays to do
Does he make enough money from ads, to keep some money for himself? Is it a decent amount?
He does the show on a Sunday night, has to drive into the studio on a station that is not super well known and does brokered radio
I am not knowledgeable in this area at all Other then him loving what he does but also at the same time with out knowing anything about him personally I can’t see the ad money being great income for him, but what do I know.

Re: Ron Cameron
Apart from some Social Security income, I gather that Ron sustains himself mostly through bartering. I suspect he works the front desk at his fleabag motel in exchange for his room. And in consideration of getting plugs, his advertising restaurants probably just cover his meals. As for his non-restaurant sponsors, the minimal rate they pay would supplement his Social Security.radiofan1974 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:43 amI may have asked this before, but I don’t think I asked it this way

Thanks for the info, I am guessing he just has the drive to keep doing the show, especially in its brokered form
Re: Ron Cameron
Ron keeps talking about this Indian restaurant at the corner of Six Mile and Haggerty. I live in that area and that restaurant is near that corner but not at it. More like halfway between Six and Seven.
