Re: Ron Cameron
2nd part was football. At least Ron didn't seem as sleepy the 2nd hour. Alex kept him on his toes a little.

I ended up skipping it BUT Alex is always well informed and you can tell he knows his stuff where Ron is obsessed with Jim Price and Kirk Gibson.

That's what Ron complained about all first hour.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 5:45 pmI ended up skipping it BUT Alex is always well informed and you can tell he knows his stuff where Ron is obsessed with Jim Price and Kirk Gibson.

Re: Ron Cameron
1st hour was a complete snoozer although Ron has this ridiculous loyalty to umpires and refs. I get it, he WAS one but be a little more objective. 2nd hour was a change of pace with my man Alex back in the mix.

Re: Ron Cameron
Hello everyone it's Alex! I decided to finally register an account to interact and share my thoughts. I mentioned Saturday that I do read this board and enjoy the feedback from the show, and also appreciate the kind words about this past weekends guest appearance. It went well enough that Ron is willing to do it again in the future.
Re: Ron Cameron
Welcome, Alex (although I was fairly sure you were already posting here)! How familiar - if at all - is Ron with the goings-on here? Is he really serious about getting back into the restaurant business in these times? And what’s become of his Friday callers from the “insurance company”?

Re: Ron Cameron
I would've announced it was me and shared more inside info. Ron knows about it from Matt's comments on the show and my references sometimes. However he of course doesn't read it. His restaurant talk is what you all know-its ongoing but with no urgency. I always say to him to let me know when it opens, but who knows with that. I have no idea about the insurance company and really have never heard a mention on it.Momo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:14 pmWelcome, Alex (although I was fairly sure you were already posting here)! Re: Ron Cameron
The “insurance company” questions were a regular fixture exclusive for years to his Friday morning shows, so they were not part of your shows with Ron. Supposedly phoned-in before the show began (because the employees weren’t allowed to call during the show), they filled a vacuum as he had few real callers, no guests & no access to emails. But Ron presented them as quite real, giving them names & hometowns. I started posting here about this when Ron had temporarily left the station. When he returned, the callers were never mentioned or heard from again.

Re: Ron Cameron
That sounds like something he would do on a Friday morning to prop the show up. Rather than just discuss a topic because it needs attention, have a listener do it. Now that he's on 11-1, maybe he thought that wouldn't work.
Re: Ron Cameron
Yeah, but there was no listener. It was all a con. And when he returned - sans these fake callers - he returned to the same 9-11 slot. Was it a mere coincidence that he ditched this long-time ruse when he was finally called-on it?! Highly doubtful.1alexalway wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 9:35 amThat sounds like something he would do on a Friday morning to prop the show up. Welcome aboard Alex and hopefully you make some more appearances on his show because you are the saving grace of the train wreck. You need to start a weekly appearance every Saturday, maybe make your NFL picks and predictions for Sunday. That will save us from listening to Kurt and Ron talk about the 1972 St Louis Cardinals during football season.

Re: Ron Cameron
I really appreciate that. I see a full hour monthly appearance being a possibility for now. Like I said previously Ron did enjoy the hour. If the regulars called in or even emailed during the hour, he would be more inclined to do it with more regularity.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 1:31 pmWelcome aboard Alex and hopefully you make some more appearances on his show because you are the saving grace of the train wreck. Re: Ron Cameron
Maybe suggest doing the 1st hour of his Saturday show. By the 2nd hour - the 4th hour of Ron in little more than 24 hours - the listeners may be a little weary. And Kurt doesn’t seem to have much interest in calling to talk football.

Re: Ron Cameron
Maybe Alex can answer the question we've all been trying to figure out, who supplies Ron with the new "Question of the day" feature? There is no way Ron figures this out by himself.
