So perhaps we'll get a little more diverse sports talk instead of the POS Lions.

You are right; perhaps I didn't state that very well. But as I said prior, there was a time a LOW rate for them was mid 6's. It's certainly not THEIR fault, as a matter of fact, it's worse. Something they had no control over. Ironically, thanks to hearing Bohemian Rhapsody 34 times every week, I'm still tuning in more often than not. I don't count, though. No meter.riggs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 7:01 pmI disagree with you there. I think that station has handled this whole pandemic situation very very well. Can't be easy with no current sports going on. It's not the station, it's the station owner. Never underestimate Entercom's ability to fuck up something good.

We'll see if he's back or not. I cannot recall Milliken filling in whenever Jamie or Stoney have had a vacation or sick day in the past. That in & of itself leads to questions.
Will be interesting to see if any other hosts are taking an extra "vacation day" today.

Re: 97.1
Well this is the time they usually use for a lot of their vacation days anyway. They rarely take vacation time during footoball season, so I don't know if this would be the day to say "Stoney's on vacation........uh oh". A lot of people take an extra day or two around a weekend holiday. That's fairly normal.
As far as Milken being more vocal, perhaps they needed Riger for something else today, maybe Riger and Wojo are filling in this afternoon, and without Bogey or Leach there, they had nobody to fill in.

My gut says Stoney just took an extra day. I would think if he was fired....
1. His partner Jamie would know.
2. Jamie wouldn't outright lie to hide it.
But that is my radio civilian opinion.

Riger is filling in the afternoon show today, so he was not available for the fill in with the morning show and that's why Gov was doing it.riggs wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 8:18 amWell this is the time they usually use for a lot of their vacation days anyway. One change that could be possible is that the station might try to re-brand itself as not just a sports station anymore.

Most vacation time was taken in August, just before training camps started up, IIRC.
I saw the post about a potential HIRE? Are they in the position to be hiring?

Bear in mind Bogie and Fithian were recently let go, and it sounds like some part-timers may have been let go as well. If someone new is hired, it'll only be because a bunch of salary has been dumped elsewhere.

Re: 97.1
Jeff Lesson told me that they let some promotions ppl go last week and that this weekend was when many were forced to take their furlough time.
My guess is they lose/gave up on Tigers and Wings rights and will dedicate a daily show to sports betting and partner with one of the local casino books.
As for that 1984 audio...what the holy hell was that? I literally sat with a tape recorded up to a transistor radio in 1984 and have tapes that sound cleaner than what they had.

Upon further thought, it wouldn't surprise me if Ilitch Holdings works out a deal with Entercom to extend and modify the existing deal for 12 months (on terms much cheaper for Entercom).
I am hard pressed to see any radio company coughing up enough cash to entice Ilitch to change horses given the current environment.
Cumulus has an uncertain future. Beasley is on the brink of bankruptcy and is in horrible financial condition. iHeart has enough cash, but would they be willing to spend enough to earn a long term deal? Highly doubtful.

Re: 97.1
there is one thing that we do know to be confirmed, the entercom license to use CBS and the Eye logo for "CBS SPORTS RADIO" is up at the end of this year and they will have to have a new name, I look for Radio.Com Sports to be the new name

If those chuds try and go for those rights (and we know it's a package deal) after they BF-ed WDFN all these years and then blew it out entirely...what, games on WLLZ???MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:40 pmUpon further thought, it wouldn't surprise me if Ilitch Holdings works out a deal with Entercom to extend and modify the existing deal for 12 months (on terms much cheaper for Entercom).
