100.7 audio

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

100.7 audio

Unread post by edj »

Down in Toledo yesterday, and holy crap 100.7 sounds awful, particularly with any S sound. I couldn't even listen to the local sports show it was so bad.

How long has this been going on? Obviously Cumulus does not care.

If a bear takes a dump in the woods, does anyone hear it? Except for the bear of course ha ha

I might be up that way soon, if so, I will check it out. If I recall, the RDS readout in my car didn't say 100.7 The Ticket, it just said WQQO-HD2.

With only 82 watts, according to Wikipedia and we all know they are always right *sarcasm*, the signal IMO is kind of useless for commercial radio. Still, they may just do just enough to keep The Ticket around. Honestly, all the formats on the signal probably haven't done much better than when CSN was on there.

Not sure if this matters of not and it probably doesn't, none of the social media links work on the websites, however they do have a FB page with get this *drum roll* 2 likes! Yep 2. https://www.facebook.com/1007FMTheTicket/

Their site says Whitmer High School football is on there, wasn't that on 105.5 last year? So yeah, the fact the audio sounds like mud does not surprise me.

Wait they have a local sports show again? Thought it'd been made pretty much 24/7 ESPN years ago.

also, looks like they're not airing the Lions OR Browns radio this year. Yesterday afternoon they had some national feed of the Steelers game on, and the Browns radio affiliate map shows nothing closer than WFOB in Fostoria, This after they had dropped the Lions from 100.7 to air the Browns a few years ago.

XKR simulcasted during those years as well, after a previous stint during the 2011 season. So that means the only football teams on radio are the closest college teams.

"Black & White Sports" is their only local program. It sounds terrible, even if you listen via streaming. It always sounds like the hosts are in different locations with wildly different audio levels and sound quality. Somebody might want to get them a new VU meter. As for NFL play by play, all national broadcasts from Westwood One and ESPN Radio. Can't even stream the Browns via Cleveland stations as they're blacked out in the Toledo area. Fortunately, the Lions are a much better team and are available via radio streaming from either 97.1 Detroit or 1050 Ann Arbor.

IF they remember to switch the feed. I used to work nights and listen to MNF and TNF on 100.7, and sometimes they'd just forget to switch the feed and keep playing ESPN radio talk shows. Same with the NBA finals, they'd often have some alternate feed on running the Baseball Tonight podcast over and over.

Very true. Those XDS and Wegener satellite receivers work well with automation, but they don't program themselves.

My mother's former coworker's son has worked as a board op for the Ticket for probably at least 10 years, so I wonder if he's aware of this. I think he shows up as much as he can to switch feeds during any of their live sports programming.

Listening to the Ticket last Saturday morning, they had a new local sports radio show and the audio was surprisingly good. I don't remember the name of the show, something like This Sports Show Sucks. Fortunately, the audio quality didn't suck, and was much better than their local weekday afternoon show.

There are so many stations that have been squeezed in, it took me a long time to figure out you were talking about the translator in Toledo. This time of year, they also get a lot of tropo effects from WMMS 100.7 Cleveland and CKUE-FM-1 100.7 Windsor across Lake Erie. Especially if you are listening in Stereo, this causes problems. You could possibly be getting the Stereo pilot from one of those, even if the translator is in Mono, and cause problems, depending on the radio.

yeah, when I lived in the eastern part of metro Toledo WMMS would interfere with the Toledo 100.7, sometimes it would even overpower it.

Not surprised, most of the cumulus stations sound like they are in the mud.
