6/16 Storm/Tornado Coverage
WZZM, WWMT, and WXMI have live coverage of the confirmed tornado moving from Van Buren County into Kzoo County.
Through my Xfinity Stream, WOOD-TV has yet to break in on either Channel 8 or 41, instead airing what coverage they have through WXSP, which as of 10:20pm is saying nothing about the tornado warning.
Astonishing lack of coverage by WOOD-TV. Holy hell.

Re: 6/16 Storm/Tornado Coverage
Storm Team 8 had an "issue" which prohibited them from going live.
Here's what Chief Meteorologist Ellen Bacca posted on Sunday evening:
We have resolved the issue that kept us from going live immediately during the tornado warning this evening.
We value your trust. It will not happen again.
Thank you for reaching out to us this evening! We care deeply about the community and are taking steps to be sure we can continue our legacy of being the most accurate and the most reliable.

The youtube weather kids also said that no models predicted what ended up happening. Weather, particularly near a lake, can be hard to predict.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 4:26 am Sara Flynn on Sunday morning's newscast downplayed the HRRR model's depiction of Sunday evening storms in the Kalamazoo area, saying no severe weather was expected and intensity wouldn't be as bad as it appeared on the graphic. Re: 6/16 Storm/Tornado Coverage
While a funnel cloud may have been seen by a fire crew near Gobles, there was no touchdown evidence for the National Weather Service in Sunday Evening's Tornado Warning area.
It doesn't change the hamstrung emergency reporting operations for Nexstar stations, I saw them trying to give some information during news at 10 on CW-41.2 and the warning was given up during that 'cast.

I thought it was going to be dry for Sun didn't think it was going to be a storm that day/night I didn't believe the Weather channel on the storms or Wood TV at 6PM Sun, even when looking at NWS had it was about only 20% at 5PM did check it again at about 8:15PM did say 50% and saw the cells forming near the lakeshore. The storms got to Kazoo at around 10PM when I went upstairs for the final time hardly any wind did put on a light show and not a fan of thunderstorms lasting for 2 & half hours I prefer them to get in and get out. Just glad I didn't lose power I'd be not happy with losing and being ungodly hot this week.

https://www.lightningmaps.org/#m=oss;t= ... ;dl=2;dc=0; https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/data/wisc/ Lightning maps , org and the updated every 15 minutes midwest view from the satellite. This started in northeast Mo/Central Illinois area with a little low pressure center. On the sat pic it was wound up tight and looked to cover a couple counties at best. It continued northeast into the Chicagoland area where it got more intense. The first line of storms formed out ahead of the low and after it crossed the lake thats when the SECOND line formed after midnight. The first set was from the outflow of the low, that was the tornado warned one, the second was the actual low pressure point. It looked like a small hurricane on the sat pics. I use the SPC from NOAA, the Area Forecast Discussion from GRR NWS and the WISC.EDU sat and lightning maps for up to date goings on.
As for REALLY dropping the ball...Blake Helms from TV13 at 6:30 NEVER mentioned anything but the upcoming heat. I was talking to the TV, "LOOK AT THE SATELLITE! Look at the radar scans in Illinois!" Look at the direction of travel! Just glad it didn't hit in my house surrounded with oaks and hickory trees up here east of Rockford.

The only thing that could explain all the technical failings, repeated mistakes, and bumbling disorganization of this infamous out-of-state "hub" is a poltergeist. Seriously, is this doomed building haunted or built on top of an ancient indian burial ground or something?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 4:26 am I wonder if inability to go live had something to do with their "hub" in Indianapolis?
Re: 6/16 Storm/Tornado Coverage
I saw a lot of tree branches down going to the mall in Portage from the storms almost 2 weeks ago.
