Hurley says "no thanks!" to the Lakers
Re: Hurley says "no thanks!" to the Lakers
Man, I wish the other national championship coach had turned down LAs overtures...
248 years was a pretty good run

Re: Hurley says "no thanks!" to the Lakers
I think the Lakers and LeBron would be best to part ways at this point. From the Lakers point of view, LBJ is giving you what, maybe two more years. I don't think there is anything that will happen in those two years that will push them to the forefront of the Western Conference. I can't see it likely that the Lakers will be better going forward than Denver, Minnesota, OKC, or Dallas. Better to part ways now and start the rebuild without the pressure and drama of having LBJ on the roster.
For James, why not have one last hurrah with whatever team catches his fancy? Whichever team is good and could reach the pinnacle with him on the roster. The Knicks, back to the Cavs, back to the Heat?
I say all this while having zero knowledge of contracts, salary caps, etc. Therefore everything I've suggested may not even be remotely plausible from a business standpoint. But purely from a basketball standpoint, the marriage of LBJ and the Lakers has already maximized its potential. Better to break it up now than merely tread water for two more years.

Re: Hurley says "no thanks!" to the Lakers
I wouldn't rule out LeBron James going to play with his son, wherever that may be.
The Lakers job is more enticing if LeBron is gone.

I don't blame him either for turning it down if the Lakers made it $100 million Dan wouldn't have turned it down in my opinion. He is content with staying at UCONN maybe he goes to the NBA someday he may just want to stay in college winning many more National Championships at UCONN.
Go Pistons, Let's Go Redwings.
