Red Wings collapsing?

Unread post by lidoshuffle »

Our beloved Winged Wheelers just gave a putrid, mind blowing uninspired effort last night (3-8-24) in Phoenix against the worst team in the NHL, losing 4-0, second shutout in three games...
Playoff teams do not get shutout like that against inferior opponents....
They are on the verge of a collapse right out of the playoffs, a flame out comparable to....oh the 3rd quarter of a recent NFC Championship game where a certain local NFL team had a 24-7 score advantage, only to suddenly take the gas pipe and fold like a house of cards in a hurricane...

Time to sign Trey Augustine immediately.
248 years was a pretty good run

Every team that isn't in the playoffs is deconstructing. The Capitols are trading off players for draft spots and cash at the moment. They won't be rebuilt until 2025.

Happens every year.

And of course, not only have the Red Wings lost 5 straight, the team chasing them for the last spot (the Islanders) have now won 5 straight.

The Islanders beat Anaheim 6-1. Detroit and New York both have 72 points.

Next three games for the Red Wings - at Buffalo, Arizona and Buffalo at home.

Augustine will play for at least two years with Michigan State. The Spartans are an emerging power in NCAA Division I hockey. The Red Wings know this.

If the Wings think Augustine can help them win, he'll be signed.

Big game tonight. My Capitals against Penguins for a wild card spot in Metropolitan. If they win, they best the Red Wings record.
