What's "up" is that online betting is legal in MI and 20 or so other states. Big stakes, big bucks, lots of ad expenditures=lots of ad (and of course tax) revenue.

Re: What's up with all these gambling commercials?
It's new, so the floodgates are open. Same happened when the voluntary ban on liquor advertising for radio and TV was lifted some years back. Guessing it will probably die down at some point, although the ads will always be around.
That being said, it's crazy right now, especially during sports broadcasts. Local breaks are one right after the other. More gambling spots than beer & bar spots.

Shortwave is the ORIGINAL satellite radio.

The current gaming ads all have a "mice type" disclaimer with Gambling Help line info. The State of Michigan was running its own help line spots when the sports book apps started advertising, before they went "live." Would not be surprised to see an uptick in pawn shop and quickie loan ads!

The commercial when a man calls his wife in the car because he has a gambling problem & then she hangs up!!!

I will bet you these ads make the companies a lot of money.
