Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
The only way to control mutations / variants is to prevent people from spreading the virus at all. The variants would have just happened quicker and there would be more of them if there weren't attempts to contain the spread.
It's why widespread use of vaccines is really the only way to speed up the process of getting over this thing.

There is no research that lockdowns have done a GD thing. The U-M report was overstated and has been adjusted downwards. It was a calculation, filled with potentially faulty exceptions. Gretchen Whitmer’s actions have led to many people dying in nursing homes. Why is she refusing to release the records? She should be criminally charged - hopefully that is coming.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 1:39 pmMatt, we have studies out of the UK and U-M(your alma mater) that say the Gretchen led lock downs saved lives. Academia doesn't agree that they were useless. States like Florida and Texas are still struggling with cases. And even if they don't lead to deaths, the great cost and "legacy" of COVID will be the long haulers and amount of long term disability faced. This will put a H*** strain on our PCP's. More than likely, we will see these cases of heart failure surge in the next 5-10 years. Right wing conservatives will blame obesity, but it will be COVID related. Just watch.
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

What exactly are you going to criminally charge her specifically with? Underlings will take the fall but it’s hardly likely she will.Matt wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 5:55 pmThere is no research that lockdowns have done a GD thing. And how is it her fault that nursing homes didn't have PPE? We had a dick of a president who only gave PPE to states he liked and kissed his ass. No mention of why said nursing home CEOs didn't have safety measures in place.Matt wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 5:55 pmThere is no research that lockdowns have done a GD thing. They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
The crime would probably be criminal negligence resulting in death or something like that... the argument is that the state should have known it was a boneheaded idea to stick COVID patients in nursing homes. When this started there really wasn’t the planning and knowledge on how to do this and the entire country fumbled through it. But Gretchen could shoot someone on Woodward Avenue and you’d excuse it so in your eyes she will never be even slightly in the wrong on this. She’s far from perfect and her “leadership” leaves a lot to be desired. She will struggle to be re-elected in 2022.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 6:49 amAnd how is it her fault that nursing homes didn't have PPE? Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
She basically did what the New York governor did and everyone is calling for his head, for that and the sex stuff, so why should she get a pass on doing the same thing? She shouldn't.
Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
Ahhh, gotcha...thanks
Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
To clarify, you are suggesting that a cover-up also happened in Michigan, correct?

Wrong. I agreed with those who said she should not have tried to ban hydroxychloroquine in this state. A few of the restrictions could have been scaled back such as the ban on landscaping work and also purchasing lawn equipment etc.Rate This wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 7:14 amThe crime would probably be criminal negligence resulting in death or something like that... the argument is that the state should have known it was a boneheaded idea to stick COVID patients in nursing homes. But on the whole she has done a good job with the lock downs and also had an aggressive road rebuilding plan that was thwarted by the idiotic Pubs in the house and senate. I agree that she will have it difficult to come back in 2022. The RNC and Ronna Romney will certainly target her.

Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
They won’t release they data will they? That suggests it is damning to them somehow...
Re: WSJ: Lockdowns should not have happened
If you could go back and look at the data, you could see that the State had MILLIONS of various PPE in stock, reported on their own website. Why certain places might have run out was either due to state incompetence or poor inventory management locally.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 6:49 amAnd how is it her fault that nursing homes didn't have PPE? Highest gas tax in the country was a good plan? That plan was less popular than covid.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:00 amWrong. Texas is doing GREAT since they ended their mask mandate. You maskzis are NOT going to like this data: https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/03 ... as-n351435MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 1:39 pmMatt, we have studies out of the UK and U-M(your alma mater) that say the Gretchen led lock downs saved lives.
