Cool 94.5 Wingham
Cool 94.5 Wingham
So now we have 4 Cool FM’s in Ontario, The latest being in Wingham at 94.5 FM. On September 4th, 2020 Blackburn re-branded the station to Cool 94.5, Could London’s 98.1 be next for the Cool brand?

CIBU-FM 94.5 75 kW 215 meters HAAT. Transmits and may diplex the antenna with CKNX-FM on the CKNX FM TV tower. Limited to 75 kW by WCEN-FM Mt. Pleasant, MI. Since CKNX-FM gets a lot of troposheric reception across Lake Huron, you may hear CIBU-FM in places like Tawas City, Oscoda, Harrisville, Alpena, and in The Thumb and further South, particularly near the coast of Lake Huron.

Listened to it occasionally during tropo skips, like you stated, while going down US23. I always thought it was cool that classic rock was overtaking a god awful country station. Didn’t realize it was classic hits now but then again, this pandemic has changed multiple things, like my traveling

That sucks - didn't 94.5 used to be a mainstream rock station?
DTE Energy paid $752 million in dividends to its shareholders last fiscal year. Remember that the next time they ask the MPSC to approve rate hikes.
Re: Cool 94.5 Wingham
CKNX doesn't come in nearly as often here in Tawas as it used to 10 years ago. It seems that whenever the tropo kicks up that WPRJ out of Coleman is equally enhanced and that's usually the stronger station.
CIBU is a pretty rare catch here. I remember occasionally hearing them as "The Bull" but it's been a while since I've heard anything other than country on 94.5.
By far the most common DX out of Ontario is CIXK 106.5. That is basically a completely clear frequency here and any time there's even a hint of tropo, CIXK comes in at least somewhat - often booming in almost like a local during the summer months.
Re: Cool 94.5 Wingham
CKNX-FM used to have a null toward WDBI. They were able to go 100 kW nondirectional because WDBI changed frequencies, first to 107.3, then to 106.1.

I used to live about 10 miles from their tower. It's atop one of the highest hills in the area
CIXK also shares a spot on their tower.
