A few years back, the Sinclair corporate Death Star started sending 25-66 and other SBG stations must run stories and “Stat of the Day” in our newscasts. It largely went unnoticed and unchallenged since Scott Rasmussen and his polling firm were well known and respected nationally for tracking presidential favorability and election polls.
Then we started to see a change, especially when it came to immigration policy where these stories and polls were clearly one-sided and pushing a conservative agenda. I went to 25-66’s former News Director and pointed out these agenda-driven stories (which came on the heels of the Deadspin story that showed Sinclair anchors forced to read the same promo about fake news). Schram said we had to run this crap. However he agreed with us that we could add our own line to provide both sides to particularly controversial topics.
Now as we get closer to a transition in power, Rasmussen is now advocating a strategy where VP Mike Pence could just decide not to accept certified Electoral College votes from states like Michigan in an effort to overturn Joe Biden’s win.

If you look at Rasmussen’s website these days, it’s clear he’s now a partisan pollster. His polls are now intermixed with “commentaries” from Republican stalwarts like former GOP presidential candidate Pat Buchanan, economist Stephen Moore and discredited “journalist” John Stossel.

This is yet another example of how Sinclair picks and chooses partners like Rasmussen to push its ultra-conservative only point of view in local newscasts. It doesn’t want viewers to get both sides and allow local viewers to decide. Which is why we continue to see these must-run corporate propaganda appear in 25-66’s newscasts. However now with the In Over Her Head News Director in charge, there’s no longer the option of even trying to balance or omit these biased polls.
Take that in to consideration when watching these stories on any Sinclair station...
