That is total bullshit.

Flaherty to the Dodgers for two minor leaguers, including former Yankees #1 draft pick SS Trey Sweeney.
Mark Canha to the Giants.

Seems awful low. Lesser pitchers were traded for more today. Harris is a fool.

Yep, Tigers trade away two talented pitchers for a bunch of prospects/stiffs.

I wonder what the roster will look like Thursday. Meadows may be back. Maybe Tork is up?

It was almost certain a reliever would go. Canha is a bit of a surprise, though he has been better of late.

Rotation is likely now Skubal (unless a late trade comes through), Olson (eventually), Montero, Sammons, and... Maeda? Jobe? Wentz? Manning? Bullpen? Guy off the street?

I understand getting prospects, but at least three of them better pan out.

Dodgers also picked up an aging Kiermaier along with the infamous Cash Considerations.

I wasn't opposed to trading Flaherty since he might not have resigned, but they should have grabbed a top prospect or at least one at or near major league ready. How many A ball, even Double A guys pan out?

Toledo is bare with a combination of younger guys not performing and older roster filler. The rotation is a disaster just like Detroit. Lockhart is probably the closest of the starters, but he still needs some work. Hurter and especially Madden are horrendous

All eyes are on West Michigan and Erie.

Sweeney has almost exclusively played short in the minors. Could he be the eventual replacement for Baez? Will he play third and force Jung to learn another position, considering he's been horrendous defensively? Do they give up on Navigato?

I don't see the point of picking up Sweeney unless they feel he's that much better and near major league ready.

anyone else remember the ancient days of yore from 2008-2017 when the Tigers had a top 5 payroll in MLB all but one year? They actually spent more than the Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox and Cubs for years at a time?

Now they're the Pirates of the AL. Except that Paul Skenes is probably better than Skubal.

I guess one story of this season is the number of young hitters who made their major league debut—Keith, Perez, Malloy, Dingler. They've all shown reasonable signs of promise, which gives me some hope. Trey Sweeney will soon join that group, with Jace Jung later on.

I sure hope the rebuild is over. The next step is to spend enough on free agents in the off season to at least bring the Tigers up to the average MLB payroll (https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/m ... 139425007/).

General consensus is that Scott Harris got played by the Dodgers and Yankees. The Yanks strung him along until finally pulling out due to medical concerns about Flaherty's back, and by then all other contenders had already made pitching deals, leaving Harris with no leverage and short on time.

Liranzo and Sweeney both are below-average defensively, and neither one is a strong hitter. Sweeney is a 24-year-old playing his first year at AAA, so you gotta hope he's a late bloomer. (As for the Baez comparisons, he might be better offensively right now, but he's notably worse defensively.) Liranzo is younger, but he's a switch-hitter who really struggles as a righty (and, jeez, another catcher???).

So this makes two straight trade deadlines where Harris bungled away the Tigers' best trade chip, and got NOBODY who is capable of joining the major league lineup today. Just wholly unacceptable. I know Harris spoke yesterday and gave his usual pat answers, but at some point Chris Ilitch needs to show his face and explain why he's signing off on this crap.
