Washington is a garbage team with a -38 goal differential.
248 years was a pretty good run

So lemme see if I have the playoff scenario correct...

Wings must win, and the Caps have to lose, either in OT or in regulation?

That's one way in. I think they're also if they lose in OT, Washington loses in regulation and Pittsburgh loses (either in regulation or OT).

As an aside, I'm not a fan of the 1 point for OT loss rule. Either go back to 2 pts for a win and 1 pt for a tie (get rid of the shootout) or if they keep the shootout, just have a win/loss record. Have regulation wins be the first tiebreaker at the end of the season.

 THAT would be such a Red Wing way to lose out on the plaoffs.

Does that make Washington +120 worth betting?

Habs are probably the best bet.

the most "Detroit franchise" way of losing anything, would be for the Lions to make the super bowl, and then lose the way Seattle did to new england that one year.

yep, even more so than the Atlanta collapse, that Seahawk play call was the most lions thing ever

Wings should have clinched a spot 2 weeks ago. Now, they are needing help from the Flyers of all people. Only for a chance to get obliterated in 4 straight by the Rangers.

Larkin being hurt really hurt them. Injuries are part of the game, but they looked like a completely different team without him. Still no reason to blank 7 games in a row though.

You realize The Caps will likely knock the Wings out tonight.

I agree our goaltending needs help, we should have never let Holtby go.

...and....that's what just happened.

Wings scoring with 4 seconds left might be for nothing.
