Democrats were backed into a tight corner. Had they had the foresight to know an 81 year old man might behave like an 81 year old man, they could have gone thru the primary process and selected a candidate the conventional way. But it didn't happen. Under the circumstances, this pretty much worked out the only way it could for them. I'm shocked they have actually got their shit together and all seem to be on the same page with no infighting. These are the cards they are dealt and they're playing them. Kamala is hardly the perfect candidate, but she is running against a very flawed individual that is truly despised by a good part of the voting public.

While I agree a lot of this is a honeymoon boost, some of it might be due to people just happy there is some youth in the race. Voters were clamoring for anything but a 2020 repeat. Add in an idiotic GOP VP choice, and hopefully a strong one from the Dems, and the numbers might continue to fall the right way.

I'm glad they put her up - because I think she's the weakest of what their options were. Anybody they put up was going to have a honeymoon phase and energize the party simply because of their dissatisfaction with Biden as the nominee after his debate performance. Harris' popularity at the moment will prove to be a flash in the pan, IMO. Again, I acknowledge that at least in theory she has a higher ceiling than Trump, but for a number of reasons I don't think she'll reach that ceiling.

You underestimate her at your own peril. Actually one of Trumps people said much the same thing on background to the Atlantic that they run the risk of misreading the electorate. They already did with Vance and they grew arrogant and complacent. I told you it was stupid to do that in April or July.

Basically take what she said and automatically assume the opposite because nobody would NOT want to run against a lazy lousy campaigner with a bad command of the facts.
