One of my friend's kid remains in a wheelchair due to that day.

I was in high school (at one of the biggest high school campuses in Michigan) when that happened, and I recently had a conversation about Columbine and how it still feels so recent. I remember how fearful everyone was of that happening here, despite staff trying to calm everyone. The atmosphere was heavy for a long time, and I remember some students were targeted for more bullying as the unfounded fears intensified (students who wore trenchcoats, boots, and other clothes out of the norm were especially targeted, for example). We felt the transformation of the high school experience pre-Columbine vs. post-Columbine.

It was a big deal. Both the OKC bombing and Columbine were. Wild time to be in high school, and Columbine laid the groundwork for the shootings of today without a doubt. Those two terrorists in both incidents fucked all of our lives up.

The full quote in context is.....
I I don't like this, I don't like to admit this I don't like that this is a fact of life but if you're if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines you realize that our schools are soft targets. We we've got a bolster security so that if a psycho wants to walk through the front door and kill a bunch of children they're not able to. I don't want my kids to go to school in a place where they feel like you've got to have additional security but that increasingly the reality that we live in

And yet again I still don't see anybody attempting to figure out WHY we have this particular problem in this particular country, so much more than anywhere else on the planet.

Blaming easy access to guns is the easy way out. Just blame the gun and call for legislation and suddenly you are absolved from being part of the problem. The problem is so much more complex than easy access to guns. It is a cultural problem that has been building for decades, and one that all the gun control in the world wouldn't fix.

Just when I think it might be safe for me to dip my toe back in the water here, I see that the corporate media is still spreading bald fits lies and the posters here believe it.

Here is what JD Vance actually said:

“I don’t like this,” Vance said. “I don’t like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets and we have got to bolster security at our schools."
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Oh probably real close to the way I feel about the bar exam failing, married man blowjob giving, babbling idiot Communist and outright liar that you're going to vote for.
