Solar Eclipse April 8
Solar Eclipse April 8
I just made my hotel reservations in Ohio. Anyone else making plans?
I have a friend heading to Texas because there is a lower chance for cloud cover. Cities along the route in Texas are almost sold out.

And the idiot Trump will look up at it.

There's never a good reason to go to ohio.
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

I live in its path, so I’ll obviously be checking it out.

I'm thinking of going to Fort Erie, ON. It's right across the river from Buffalo.
Re: Solar Eclipse April 8
I'm sorely tempted to just hop in the car and drive through an affected area.

"I have really good eyes, really good....incredible, some say, in fact my doctor says they are the best he's ever come across. Completely amazed, says I have the eyesight of a 20 year old. Never seen that before. Really an incredible thing. Says I could look at bright lights all day, nothing stopping these peepers."

Let's all hope we have a cloud free day on April 8 for viewing.
I do not trust Mother Nature.

In Ontario, clouds blowing in from Lake Erie could ruin it. A worst-case scenario would be to have a major low come into the southern Great Lakes region that day.

Delta adds special flight from Austin to Detroit in path of totality for total solar eclipse
Posted at 11:20 AM, Feb 19, 2024 and last updated 12:45 PM, Feb 19, 2024
Delta Air Lines said it will fly a special flight from Austin to Detroit on April 8, 2024, for people to experience the total solar eclipse.
According to Delta, flight 1218 will depart Austin at 12:15 p.m. central time and land in Detroit at 4:20 p.m. eastern time.
It will be flown on an Airbus A220-300, which has extra large windows.
According to NASA, the total solar eclipse's path of totality will stretch from Texas to Maine, just south of Detroit and close to the Detroit-Ohio border.
The point, according to Delta, will be to spend as much time as possible directly within the path of totality.
“This flight is the result of significant collaboration and exemplifies the close teamwork Delta is known for — from selecting an aircraft with larger windows to determining the exact departure time from Austin and the experiences at the gate and in the air,” said Eric Beck, Managing Director of Domestic Network Planning. “Thanks to teams across the company, the idea of viewing a total eclipse from the air will become a reality for our customers.”

Thinking about this flight. I wonder what it will really look like. Will it be just like a normal night-time flight, or will there be a weird sense that you're flying in the shadow, and see darkness below, but looking off to the left or right side of the plane would you still be able to see where the sun still illuminates the earth? Seems like at 39,000 ft you can see a few hundred miles off to each side.km1125 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 9:27 pmhttps://www.wxyz.com/news/delta-adds-sp ... ar-eclipse

Our area is ground zero and we are expecting tens of thousands for viewing and have opened temporary camping areas to hopefully hold them. No hotel or motel rooms available for miles.
