Not Christmas but yeah..ChrisWL1980 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 5:30 pmAny Christmas song became gold when Karen sang it. Mariah "the walking tornado siren" ( ) can try to trademark the phrase "Queen of Christmas" all she wants, but as far as I'm concerned it's Karen Anne Carpenter.
Just put Carpenters and Amy Grant on shuffle and that's all the Christmas music I need.

Among her Christmas songs, probably her version of "O Holy Night." It's about as subtle as a hammer to the head. Even Celine Dion's version of same is restrained in comparison.Foamy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 5:59 pmNot Christmas but yeah..ChrisWL1980 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 5:30 pmAny Christmas song became gold when Karen sang it. Paul Shaffer said during the "Late Show With David Letterman" holiday show that Cher's performance of "O Holy Night" (from the 1973 "Sonny & Cher Christmas Show") was his favorite at the 21:43 mark!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZf1IIhizrs

I try to give all the Christmas novelty songs at least one listen during the season, but I couldn't make it through "Dominick the Donkey" when it came on the radio the other day.
All along the icy wastes, there are faces smiling in the gloom.

Another depressing Christmas song is "The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot". When they sing the following lines, it almost sounds like a joke, because of the clever rhyme:
I'm so sorry for that laddie
He hasn't got a daddy
The little boy that Santa Claus forgot
All along the icy wastes, there are faces smiling in the gloom.

No Hippopotamuses, no way. Thankfully I haven’t encountered that one yet this season.
