All Im going off of is what the news directors are telling the talent recruiters/consultants, who match up the hires. XYZ is starting at 85, DIV at 90. If anchoring is involved, such as wknds, its 115 and up.

Has anyone else noticed that Heather Pascoe's traffic reports on FM stations sound great, but on Fox 2 sounds like a cheap toy telephone?

Haven't heard her on FM, but I do recall her "phoning it in" on Fox2, and, yes, it certainly did seem "phoned in"!!

It's not her, it's the audio quality. Well, unless she's also the audio engineer, then I guess it is her.

Most of Toledo’s traffic reporters are based in Detroit. Lorna Stevens and Kevin Sanderson also come to mind.

Yeah, I've heard Lorna and Kevin's voices. There's a new guy on there named Adam, I wonder if he's also based in Detroit.

I don't think Toledo's traffic reporters have ever been based locally. 10-12 years ago when I'd listen to Toledo radio much more than I do now, pretty sure they were based in either Cleveland or Columbus. They'd screw things up like you wouldn't believe, calling roads by their route number instead of the city street name which is much more frequently used among Toledoans, (ie: "Ohio 184" instead of "Alexis Road") using the exit number for highway interchanges, mispronouncing names, etc. Once they included an incident on Dix-Toledo Highway way the hell up in Southgate just because the road has "Toledo" in its name.

Joe Elardo was local, the others were based in Cleveland, Columbus or Cincinnati, depending on who was available for the shift.

At least Detroit reporters are more likely to have some sort of knowledge of Toledo roads.

The one guy on the iHeart stations I remember from 10 years ago was Rick Tober, he was based in Cleveland and was the traffic reporter during the afternoon drive.

Cumulus used to have their station DJs do traffic individually, but since the pandemic, only one DJ does them by shift. Johny D usually does middays and Eric Chase usually does afternoons.

Lorna and Pascoe both know the area well and do fine work. Conversely, none of the TV traffic people thrill me. You can throw Jim Daniels from WWJ in that club, too. Is he still mumbling his way through reports on 950?

I don’t believe so.
