"Solar Max Might Arrive Early"
Re: "Solar Max Might Arrive Early"
Thanks for posting. During the very anemic cycle 24, the experts were predicting that cycle 25 and several thereafter would be even weaker. This one has surprised everyone
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
Re: "Solar Max Might Arrive Early"
If solar max will be poor , the next few cycles...I will have to spend my nights on the lower HF bands and sleep all day ! 160, 80 and 60M are not very different when Sol is lazy.
Re: "Solar Max Might Arrive Early"
I don't have anything up for 10.
I know a group of guys that local ragchew throughout the day on 10. They say the band will open up all of a sudden, they work the world for 10 or 15 minutes, then shuts back down.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. There's no going back, and we can only go forward before we run out of runway.

Right now, and for the next couple of years, 10 will open for far more than just 10-15 min. at a time.
I have recently been regularly working the south Pacific well into the late night, open for hours at a time. Frequently hearing guys on AM on 29.600 and FM repeaters at the high end.
An occasional check of the many propagation and DX spotting sites provides a useful guide to what's "hot" and when.
Digital modes add to the fun too.

I've got the antennas. Lots of antennas,
A couple years ago I took my antennas down for home remodeling. I'm finding I just don't have a burning desire to get back on HF.
I still work 2M and 440 mobile. And I suppose, due mostly because of prodding from buddies, I'll have something up for Sweepstakes.

I'm on CB (27MHZ, "11m") often and can vouch for the 10m guys - it's been wild recently, although the last few days have been quieter.
