Re: Z93
I wonder if anyone will care.
The morning show has been around for years. It's a throwback Pleasantville marzipan.

I can't get the website to come up... just a background pic and a TBA Credit Union Ad.

Leans? Back That Think Up - Juvenile followed by Party Up - DMX at 945 in the morning.... pretty rhythmic to me. Not sure that is mainstream Northern Michigan.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 10:56 am I like the music mix and imaging. Not sure yet if jingles are included (if not, that's a shortcoming).
The playlist is pretty high energy and leans rhythmic; this is not a boilerplate Hot AC by any stretch. This station feels more like CHR with a large library component.
So, I was wrong about the new format meshing better with the morning show. Still a major mismatch. Move gramps to 107.5 please.
There's a good question - what IS mainstream Northern Michigan?

Re: Z93
I was hoping for a station similar to 95.7 in GR - circa '14-'19. Reposition KHQ as the "kids station," take a stab at the 34-45 demo, and position directly between 96.3 and KHQ. I don't feel it sits between with the rhythmic songs they're playing but I'm open to being surprised! Either way, this upgrade was much needed. It will be interesting to watch. Best of luck to all involved. Love the V.O., and love they gave her a section on the website.

ZZAND,
While I agree that Mom and Dad are the target, Hot AC listeners want to "Feel 23". A morning show that is hosted by a male GenX and a non-hipster side kick isn't going to resonate with the audience the music is designed to attract. They need an all woman morning show with much more energy than these two are capable of delivering consistently. I am surrounded with the listeners they want, and Z93 doesn't come close to being on their radar. I have heard the station being played once on a radio in town. KLT, KHQ, TCM FM and even Bob FM, are heard quite frequently in town. It's not a scientific methodology, but it is also telling about their "also ran" status in town. I too feel KLQ needs a challenger, but Z93 isn't quite there.

Looks like sort of a cross between WDVD and 105-1 The Bounce. Listeners who grew up with 106.7 The Peak in the '90s should appreciate this.
