I've never understood why some people are genuinely afraid of clowns. :? I watched Milky and Bozo religiously back in the day, but not because I thought they were creepy.

Delivering the Free Press in Saginaw, my pre-route paper reading would take me by Milky the Twin Pines Clown references. We just had Bozo, Mr. Magic, Rae Deane and Friends, Mr. Hot Dog and Stuff (part of "Hoss and Stuff") as our cadre of cartoon show hosts.

Would be worth my while to troll some suburban estate/garage sales and score a Milky ashtray!

Wasn't it Milky the Clown that got hurt at home lighting his furnace? Somewhere in the moldy archives of my head I recall such an incident.
The box that many broadcasters won’t look outside of was made in 1969 and hasn’t changed significantly since.

Milky was NOT before my time. I watched the show and saw him in person once. He did not look "creepy" on TV. He was aimiable and he mostly did magic tricks on camera, at which he was pretty good. That said, I am not one of those who disliked clowns. They were all over early TV, network and local. My favorite was an is Clarabell (especially manic Clarabell played by Bob Keeshan) who would regularly blast Buffalo Bob with seltzer. I never saw seltzer bottles in Detroit, at least not by that name. I didn't realize seltzer was soda and I could get the same effect by putting my finger on the top of an open bottle of pop and giving it a good shake, aiming and firing. If I had known, I would have gotten in lots of trouble. Anyway, Milky did the job. I still remember the phone number: TExas 4-1100.

At some point Twin Pines aquired the Milky character. They are still in business. I purchased a pint of milk at a store last year.

They delivered to my house every week.

CF Burger Creamery in Detroit has owned the Twin Pines brand, at least in Michigan, for quite awhile.

The way things are today, children would definitely stay away from any idiot dressed like that. Milky even scares me, just the name is damn scary. 😟
