Who do you want on your party's 2024 Presidential ticket?

Unread post by bmw »

For whichever party you're voting for, who do you want to see as the President and VP?

My vote goes for Ron DeSantis at the top of the Republican ticket and Rand Paul as the VP. Both had stellar election results with DeSantis out-performing the polls by 6-7 points and with Rand Paul getting 62% of the vote in Kentucky, besting his 57% mark in 2016.

I think DeSantis appeals to the vast majority of Trump supporters and doesn't turn off as many Independents as Trump does, he has a solid record to run, and Rand Paul can bring some small-government talk back to the party - talk which is sorely lacking in current times.

I'll be as curious to hear who the left-leaning people here want to see on the Democrat ticket as I am about those Republicans in here who all have strong feelings (one way or the other) about Donald Trump.

Pete Buttigieg and some other not so old Democrat. He has a good record to run on as transportation Secretary of getting things done, he’s articulate and not insane.
Donald Trump… In your guts you know he’s nuts.

I second Pete Buttigieg all the way. I think he's very intelligent and has the right demeanor and spirit to lead.

How about him as VP With Klobuchar as President. I think she has a few stories in her background that would resonate with the public and boost her visibility really quick, but she also seems to have been an engaged legislator. There really isn't much in her record that people would be red hot about, but she has pushed for positive things. I think people have pretty much accepted that the ACA wasn't a socialist plot to take over healthcare and she pushed for tougher penalties for drunk drivers. Her positions on gun control and climate change would probably upset a few people.

For the R's, Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. In office for 8 years in a liberal state.

For the D's, Gavin Newsom. He's not as progressive as most of the D's state. Don't think anyone from the 2020 election can win. I suspect Uncle Joe will run again, but he shouldn't.

Ron DeSantis for President
Nikki Haley for VP- I think she’d do well with the suburban women demographic

For the Republicans, I think Ron DeSantis should be at the top of the ticket. He won Florida by nearly 20 points this week (including winning Miami-Dade County) and doesn't turn off as many people as Trump. Some possible VP candidates include Rand Paul, Nikki Haley, Larry Hogan (managing to win election twice in deep blue MD), or Lee Zeldin (came close to knocking off incumbent Kathy Hochul in NY this week)

I sent this to a friend in South Bend, and he's still laughing. Have you ever visited South Bend? Anytime I've been there, it has looked like a place that's barely hanging on economically.

Name one thing Pete has accomplished as transportation secretary. How about all of the cargo that was backed up for miles off shore from Wilmington harbor in L.A. while Pete was on "Maternity leave" :lol Even Mussolini had a good record of the trains running on time. Articulate? Absolutely. The guy can prattle on for ten minutes, and say basically nothing of any substance. How many days supply of diesel fuel do we currently have? Newsweek, (which I can't believe still exists) picked up that story...not exactly a right wing whacko publication. I agree, Pete seems like a nice guy, and we all know what they say about nice guys.

Frankly, I hope Dementia Joe runs again. That will be a fun show to watch.

Politics in general is just painful anymore, I'm tired of style of substance, loud mouths, nepotism, and incompetence. I want boring competence, so I'll go with this guy.

The trains did not run on time in Italy because the infrastructure was terrible.

I'm not so sure he will, and in the event he doesn't, does Harris step in?

My concern with Buttigeig is his sexual orientation and dimwitted older homophobic voters. There are plenty in both parties.

Klobuchar has loads of skeletons in the closet that will be problematic.

Gavin Newsom would be a great candidate, given is success in California (the 5th largest economy in the world). Watch the old tools in here complain would be a benefit.

I'm having real difficulty with this question. Mayor Pete's sexual orientation is a problem with today's 50+ electorate. VP Kamala is not a real good campaigner. Joe is just too old. Amy has a lot of skeletons, and again, a strong female candidate comes off as a "b". Can Gavin Newson take the heat? Is It Big Gretch's time yet? It's a deep but thin bench (is that the right metaphor?). Dems need to spend the next 6-8 months boosting someone's visibility and name recognition.

As for R's bring on the former President. Please.. pretty please...

As an independent my pick is Tulsi Gabbard .
I'd vote for her 3 times. Once with my own vote and twice with the votes of the people I bought my house from in 1994 who still get applications for absentee ballots twice a year at my address.
