I heard his retirement speech while I was driving on Friday morning on WWJ. He was the best at what he did and he will be missed. He did say he will still be doing some part time work.

It was somewhere around there. May have been 50.04. But it was the transmission directly from the copter to air and also to ground.
It would have been in the broadcast auxiliary band, remote pickup service. While there are some allocations as low as 11 meters, Detroit does not have anything in low VHF. They may have at one time used 160 MHz, but not since the early 80's when everything was coordinated to 455 MHz.

Just a bit more to the post Dennis is a licensed pilot and also believe has a license for using the six meter band. This is traffic reporter Jim Hughes and I am a licensed General Class Ticket holder KE8NUL my call letters. Also with great assistance by EDJ who hopefully is still intact and didn't implode on my pronunciation of Saline. I have been practicing.....I got it.

Could be worse... you could have mispronounced Gratiot or Schoenherr!! Or even DEEtroit instead of D'TROIT

I also heard him reporting traffic this morning. My guess he is filling in for KT who is probably off for the holidays.

Is it too much to expect a traffic reporter in a large market to pronounce local cities and roads correctly?

I have noticed several new traffic reporters. Some of them do not seem to be there for long. Are they trying out replacements for Dennis?

KT has taken over mornings. Afternoons seem to rotate. O’Neill Stevens is another who isn’t very good. He has no idea what communities are affected, only the county. He called an accident on I-75 near the 9 Mile curve “Royal Oak”. He hasn’t mispronounced anything to my knowledge. Marty Bufalini is weekend and vacation fill-in. I’m blanking on the overnight and other weekend people at the moment.
