Abc12 breaking point
Re: Abc12 breaking point
Newsy will "kill" any TV stations news product. Newsy IMO is the worst news product ever.

How do you know thatmr v wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 3:54 pmWhy would the ABC 12 ND leave in September? She does not have a contract that expires then. She does not have a contract period.Jack5o2soco wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 8:31 am My contact there says they still have no potential candidates for any position. They will keep cycling through people for Cheri's old spot on the weekends. Brad's position is gone it won't be filled and no one new on sports. I've seen other stations hiring. WEYI has hired so has WNEM. Do you think 12s reputation of a place to go to for abuse has finally caught up to them? They also told me they're hoping that Nd will be gone in Sept and that the new overlords won't let the GM fire her? Anyone else heard this?

As a former 12er— not 100 percent sure, but Denise was hired in under Gray, which I believe requires 3-year contracts for NDs. Even though Gray sold ABC12 to AMB, contracts carry over. It did for everyone- why not her? Her first day was September 16, 2019. My guess is she’s looking at other opportunities; then again, I had heard her saying over and over how much she loves the area and Flint. Time will tell. I have no idea how they are operating with the staff they have.

Re: Abc12 breaking point
This weekend has provided some of the worst newscasts ever. The morning newscasts consisted of a taped weather segment from Wisconsin while a storm was happening in the area. There was no sign of any live radar, as the storm was occurring. They would be better off just running informercials.
turn up the radio! mighty in might!

I agree. ABC12 is turning into public access channel for news. The taped weather front Wisconsin looked cheap. Why not just do all the newscasts and weather from Wisconsin? What an embarrassment. If I owned 12, I would have more pride in what I own.
Re: Abc12 breaking point
Sunday 11pm back with the taped weathercast from Madison, WI.
Last one out, turn out the lights.

What's the point of even having news if weather is from wi? I doubt they really covered any "news" just give up and put what few people you have left into other shows.

TV 6 in Marquette looks better. Just end the evening weekend newscasts.

Re: Abc12 breaking point
There is absolutely no (good) reason why we don’t have an on duty local meteorologist doing weathercasts.
The facts:
Brad gave management more than a month’s notice that he was leaving. Ample time to get a weekend weather coverage plan together.
JR is the highest paid on-air talent in the Flint/Saginaw TV market. There’s no (good) reason why he can’t come in for a couple of weekends to help out. Denise and Brock need to tell JR, Kevin or Christina to come in.
We all know that weather ranks as the top reason viewers watch local newscasts. By not having a local met on air during an active weather pattern is unacceptable.
And let’s not forget… Byron Allen owns WJRT. Byron Allen owns The Weather Channel. You can’t say this company doesn’t have weather talent that could be loaned to ABC 12 for a couple of weekends.

Agreed. Are they throwing away the market? What a waste of all those millions buying them. Also I thought brad gave a 3 month notice? JR makes 150k he can cover an active Saturday. I guess we have no choice but to watch the other station.Under New Management wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 8:31 am There is absolutely no (good) reason why we don’t have an on duty local meteorologist doing weathercasts.

Watch WXYZ out of Detroit.
Re: Abc12 breaking point
I wonder how morale is at the Weather Channel. How about it Jim Cantore?

Minus the outsourcing, that's pretty close to how Barrington ran its stations. Little to nothing.
Is Cantore still at TWC? I thought he retired (last few times I watched he wasn't on air)

No, Cantore is still there. He's about the only good part of TWC left.organman95 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 10:50 am Minus the outsourcing, that's pretty close to how Barrington ran its stations. Little to nothing.

Re: Abc12 breaking point
Andrew Humphrey just quit WDIV. Maybe Denise can hire him to do weekend mornings. Or get rid of JR and his tacky Fourth of July suit and hire Andrew as WJRT’s new Chief Met.
