I 've noticed that Detroit hasn't had a format change since the fall of 2020 just like Grand Rapids hasn't had one. It seems
to me that one of the bottom feeders such as WDRQ or WDZH should fliip to something else. I still think that WLLZ should do
as I said earlier and eliminate the wimpy overplayed hits and groups such as Journey and just play harder classic rock. I have
seen their TV commercials during Detroit Tiger Baseball games and they talk about the harder classic rock not the wimpy
stuff. Detroit should have a classic hard rock station anyway and WLLZ would be the best station for it.

WCXI flipped from talk to Brother Stair! That's your big format change

Well later on near the end of it's life they started playing the generic songs and I got bored and replaced the preset with Amp Radio

They're the only classic hits station, which plays a variety of music of every genre from the 70s through the early 2000s (although I heard Brown Eyed Girl the other day, so I guess late 60s again)

Oh and they appear to have stopped playing Viva La Vida finally, and replaced it with Clocks, which I feel works. It could easily be mistaken for a U2 song from the 80s.
Trick the audience into listening newer songs by playing ones that sound old is exactly how I would program it too

Re: WOMC

I'm sure having heritage and the format to themselves doesn't hurt, but I find them mediocre at best.

Oddly enough, I'm in the demo, and barely listen to them. Those I know my age and older who like classic hits, don't listen either. They stream. And we are talking people in their late 50's, 60's and even 70's. Small sample of course, but doesn't bode well for the future of radio.

Could WOMC have a super fan or two with a meter?

Or maybe I'm just missing their dazzling appeal.

WRQN in Toledo back when they played 60's and 70's songs years ago played 80's songs that sounded older like "You Got It" by Roy Orbison and "Rock This Town" by the Stray Cats.

Good God WOMC is boring. I wish that another station would enter the Classic Hits race.
And can someone adjust the sound mixing when Aricka is talking? The music drowns her out.
I miss Pam Rossi on that station.

I enjoyed WOMC when it was a CBS station… at least a bit more than Entercom/Audacy. I think about 1992-1999 and 2008-2010 were its best years as oldies/classic hits. It’s been #1 on my presets since about 1995 and it hasn't been moved/removed just because of habit. But I can rarely listen to it more than just a stray song here and there. I’ve heard it all hundreds of times, and I’m an oldies fan so repetition alone doesn’t turn me off, but WOMC just has the dullest library. There is more to the 80’s than Journey and Guns N Roses.

Yes, WRQN is a very boring station outside of the 70's at 7, 80's at 8, and their weekend syndicated shows which include Tom Kent's Ultimate Party, AT40 70's and 80's reruns, and the 80's Backtrax USA. WRQN only plays a few 90's songs, 80's which are only the safe ones, and fewer 70's. I've noticed they've stopped playing more singer-songwriters and started playing more rock songs, like Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and the Cars, all of who've been played on sister classic rocker WXKR for years already. They could dump the harder stuff XKR already plays, and re-add some 70's, 80's, a few 60's or add some 90's to the playlist.

I remember Doug FM being mostly goofy ass 80s songs like Once in a Lifetime by the Talking Heads or Mickey by Toni Basil, and Rock Me Amadeus.

And I loved every second of it. Idk why people on this board complain about it.
Doug-FM — before Cumulus got their hands on it — was pretty damn good. Actually had variety. What a concept.

Once Cumulus nabbed the Citadel stations, they whittled Doug’s playlist to about maybe 200-300 songs at most. Toward the end, they did mercifully expand the playlist, but still had way too much repetition for a variety hits format.

It’s been stated on the board many times, but Cumulus can’t stand variety hits. Very few of their stations have the format. Been that way ever since the format’s first “boom”.

You all want to hear how the format should be done? Listen to any of Midwest’s or Audacy‘s Jack FMs. That’s what the format should sound like.

The best thing you could do when Aricka is on is drown her out completely.

How anyone can listen to that shrew is beyond me.

I made a 60s and 70s spotify playlist where I snuck in a few 80s tracks like "They Don't Know" by Tracey Ullman and "Loco in Acapulco" by the Four Tops.
But I also snuck in a few 50s tracks like "La Bamba" by Ritchie Valens and "That'll Be The Day" by The Crickets.

Did Cumulus buy 97.1 and flip the Ticket to WJR today or is there some kind of error going on? I was listening to the Ticket at 10:59 today and it was broadcasting WJR all of a sudden.
