This one falls on Biden by not helping get people back to work. Stagflation at its finest. Even CNN thinks Trump was better president, now.

If the S&P 500 closes below $4300 that might signal serious worry by chart watchers.

I made more money by working for myself last year than any year in my entire life. This month will be the most profitable month of my life. Looking at how projects are lined up, if we keep on this trend, our level of income will be life-changing by the end of the year and we have no reason to think that scale or scope will be a problem. The only real difference from this year and last from 2018, 2019 and the first three quarters of 2020 is that my business partner and I work for ourselves, rather than working for someone else doing what we do. Our workforce is made up of 1099'ers and the pool of people dropping out of the traditional workforce to take gigs is only making it easier to find people to work projects for us.

If we re supposed to mark what president is better by how our pockets have grown during their term, then Biden would far and away be the best president of my lifetime. I don't believe a president has that extensive of control over our economy, so I am going to have to disagree with the idea that the economy makes the president.

Somewhat off-topic, but I thought I would leave this here.

From what I see, people are sick of getting screwed by business owners and are looking for new working situations. I will absolutely never depend on a full-time employer for a paycheck as long as I live. Maybe when I get into my 60s I will do some regular bullshit to keep busy, but I kick myself in the ass for spending years wasting my labor for putzes that screwed me.

I say all this to say that the problem isn't that Biden hasn't gotten people back to work, its that people have found alternative ways of making money. There is also the matter of mass retirement from people who decided to stay in the workforce after the Bush Recession to make up lost wealth.

I mean, wasn't cutting back on unemployment supposed to solve the "problem" of people choosing to not work under managers who cannot pay a fair wage?

Recovered nicely today. Nice of the hayseed crowd trying to tie the index to Biden.

Don't something like the top 10% of the wealth in this country own 90% of the stocks? So the NYSE is hardly "the economy". Such idiots on this board.

It's times like this I'm glad to be a socialist. Whatever happens to the markets, I won't lose a wink of sleep over it.

A lot of those of equities are owned by institutional investors. That would be pension funds, educational foundations, hospitals, community foundations and such as well as the companies themselves. Of that, a good deal of it is in mutual and index funds that are diversified (or at least they should be). Point being, if you, your pension administrators or your 501K is putting investment dollars in only one or two holdings, you're probably going to get burnt in the long run and it doesn't matter who is sitting in the White House.

I get 1.5% at my bank right now, so I'm sheltering it there, and I don't have to wonder about it.

Because socialist countries have been so successful over the years. Extremely predictable!

They believe in equality. Everyone suffers.

I'm a socialist and I'm not suffering one bit. Living comfortably, thank you. Not feeling any grief at all about the performance of the stock market. It has nothing to do with me.

1.5% ??? That means you were pedaling backwards even when Trump was in office. It also means you're tragically unqualified to assess Biden's or anyone else's economic initiatives. SMH.

Netflix has sure taken a beating. It has lost nearly HALF of its value since its October 2021 peak.
