I don't get the whole "election day holiday" nonsense. Is that really going to have an impact on most folks? Who does it *actually* impact? Federal workers? Banks? Private companies and small businesses are not going to be required to honor it, are they?

In most western countries Election Day is a national holiday. It gets more people out of work so they can vote. Our place in the functioning of the government by voting should be celebrated. Plus who doesn’t like another day off?

The United States has the lowest % of eligible voters actually participating in elections of any Western democracy. Anything that gets more people to vote gets my vote.
