I miss the live Sunday SportsTalk shows every week, and rely on this forum for any of the blow-by-blow reports of the show as it unfolds live, and I will often go back and listen to the podcast, just to hear some of the “highlights”. Obviously, the radio world isn’t on the edge of their seats waiting for RC’s Sunday podcast to get posted, but as of 9am, Wednesday Oct. 6, the Sunday show hasn’t been posted to sites that provide Ron Cameron’s Sunday Oct. 3rd offering. Usually they are posted late afternoon on the Tuesday following the Sunday show date. Where’s Ron to “flip the switch”!

Well, I went back and listened to the October 3 podcasts. Per usual, Theatre Of The Absurd, by R-Sizzle. Kinda funny to hear Ron try to tell the producer how to perform internet searches, even though Ron doesn’t “do” the internet! Ron should do himself a favor and take some of those “Introduction To The Internet” classes (if those are still a thing!) at whatever local library that’s close to where he’s currently staying! Then again the busy life of R-Sizzle might prevent that!

This is sure to get Ron's dander up. USA Today this week has been unveiling its panel of experts' picks as the top 75 NBA players of all time. His "no doubt" Wilt made it "only" to 5 (higher, btw, than I've seen of late in similar ranking) - falling behind top pick Michael Jordan, then LeBron, Kareem, & Magic. The remainder of the top ten were Bill Russell, Kobe, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, & Shaq.

I'm just catching up to last week's show on the "podcast." Ron claims that he and Ernie Harwell were best friends.

Has R Fizzle been the best friend of more people than anyone ever?

Yes, for many years now, he’s been claiming this great friendship with Ernie. And that he was one of the few people Gordie Howe recognized deep into his dementia. Ron, humbly, “appreciated” that. He didn’t attend either of their funerals, though, because he doesn’t do funerals (although he has said he went to Cory Lidle’s). He’s also spoken of being the childhood idol of countless youth. And Ron has talked about being the last one to talk to or see any number of sports figures through the years. I’ve often wondered why the authorities have never brought him in for questioning about this.

If Ralph Edwards ever brought back This is Your Life, a mere one episode honoring Ron would just not suffice.

If Ron didn’t know when Memorial Day fell in the calendar, there’s not a chance he has any idea about Columbus Day.

From The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, Louisiana), October 5, 1999:

Great find, Bobbert! There doesn't appear to be any online acknowledgement of Ron's role in the team, that folded after just three seasons.

Ron lost Jimmy Devellano's number, too?! I'm sensing a pattern.
