I'll start:
2021 - losing to a record-breaking 66-yard field goal that bounced off of and over the cross-bar
2019 - losing after not one, but TWO bogus hands-to-the-face penalty calls in critical situations against Trey Flowers.
2017 - losing after a 10-second runoff that was enforced after a Golden Tate TD was overturned by replay, even though there would have otherwise still been 8 seconds on the clock had the officials gotten the call right in the first place
2015 - the Aaron Rodgers 61-yard hail mary completion during an untimed down (the Lions never trailed in regulation)
2010 - the Calvin Johnson TD catch that wasn't a catch
2002 - Deferring in OT because of the wind (though in this example, I would contend that the error wasn't in deferring, but in declining a 3rd down penalty against Chicago that would have forced a 52 yard FG attempt into the wind - they would then go on to get a 1st down after Detroit declined).
Feel free to add to this list. There are plenty more out there. I'm sure I'll think of some more in the coming days.

I'd excise the 1970 team; they went 10-4 and lost in the playoffs to Dallas 5-0. It was also the year of the Tom Dempsey miracle kick. As the season wound down, the Lions may have been near the top of the so-called Power Rankings if they existed at the time.

91-92 was their only playoff win, so I would say it is fair to include all the rest of the seasons. They do have a fair number of playoff appearances, just that they lost every other one of them.
Re: Compiled list of different ways the Lions have lost games
On December 26, 1970 had the Lions beaten the Cowboys at the old Cotton Bowl in the playoffs, I think they play the 49ers at Tiger Stadium for the NFC Championship BUT it was intercepted by Mel Renfo of the Cowboys with 40 seconds to play. In 1983, had the Lions beaten Joe Montana's 49ers in the Divisional Playoffs, they would have played the Joe Thiesman's Washington Redskins for the NFC Championship at the old Pontiac Silverdome. Blame it on the wind at San Fran because Eddie Murray's kick was NO good (wide to the right) with no time on the clock at Candlestick Park.
