Do TV Networks Embellish Crowd Noise?
Do TV Networks Embellish Crowd Noise?
I was watching a woman's soccer game on tv and there must have been 200 people in the crowd, but the crowd sounded much noisier. Do networks add crowd noise, and I'm not just talking about since the pandemic?
Re: Do TV Networks Embellish Crowd Noise?
I don't think that they have canned crowd noise playing in a loop in the background, but if there are 200 people in the stands the crowd mics will be where the greatest concentration of fans are.

I thought I have read the networks do this. Believe I've seen during some game they were explaining the how and why. The why, of course, little or no crowds because of the China Virus.

The pro leagues all developed crowd ambience enhancement to a fairly high degree during 2020.Mike Oxlong wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:48 amI thought I have read the networks do this. Was crowd noise embellished in this recording? There's your answer right here.

While the networks do put microphones in the crowd during playoff events (saw it first hand during Tigers playoff games), they do use pre recorded crowd noise in the background. FSD was notorious for it and you’d hear the same loop over and over, especially with certain whoops and screams

Yes. See, he HAD to find a way to work that in there. We all KNOW why there hasn't been crowds in many events lately. But he had to make sure you know where he stands on it by making sure he found a way to type "China Virus" in the post. You know, virtue signalling and all.SolarMax wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 10:44 amThe pro leagues all developed crowd ambience enhancement to a fairly high degree during 2020.Mike Oxlong wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 7:48 amI thought I have read the networks do this. I'm also checking into this thread for the inevitable "the LEFT MSM tv networks embellish more than that. I know this. My garbage man told me and I did my research"

Then again, just saying "the sky is blue" could turn into a massive left wing conspiracy with the Bidens (or whatever Democrat is well known. Are we still hanging on the Clintons? Bryce?) and government cover up that the sky is actually green but big science is paid by (insert Democrat name here) so no one knows the truth. The FACTS. And trump is gonna pull that curtain down when he's reinstated.
And then you go outside, look up, and see the sky is actually blue. Well now the LEFT sneaks in your house at night and puts a certain contact in your eye that makes it APPEAR blue. But the LEFT NEWS won't tell you that.

Same for hockey. You'd think with all the mics all over the place that are sensitive enough to create an over-embellished sound of blade on ice, you'd hear the trash talk and the many f-you's of hockey. Nope.Realist wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 12:24 pmWhile the networks do put microphones in the crowd during playoff events (saw it first hand during Tigers playoff games), they do use pre recorded crowd noise in the background. I don't understand why "China Virus" is so horrible to say, but the "Brazilian Variant" was just fine. Seems like a double standard to me. To the topic at hand, back in the (not so) good ol' days of the World Wrasslin Federation, all of their taped shows had ridiculous "crowd sweetening." Nothing like seeing a few thousand people sitting on their hands while listening to the roar of a fake crowd. Vince McMahon: Once bat shit crazy, always bat shit crazy.

I know that CBS used to put fake tree branches in front of the camera to make it look like they were shooting thru treetops.westside wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:49 pmNBC Sports tried it, and got busted.

CBS famously added bird sounds and such in their Masters coverage. They still do AFAIK.BillT wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 1:51 pmI know that CBS used to put fake tree branches in front of the camera to make it look like they were shooting thru treetops.westside wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 11:49 pmNBC Sports tried it, and got busted.
