COVID Protocols Back
COVID Protocols Back
25-66 parent company Sinclair Broadcasting is once again requiring stations to start wearing masks indoors.

Maybe instead of sending us a three page memo, how about they have a discussion with their DC bureau, Full Measure with Sharyl Attikisson, The National Desk, and Sinclair Senior VP of “News” Scotty Livingston about not promoting COVID misinformation through Corporate Death Star must run stories? Just a thought… how about we start making sure our stories use the same science the company is using to keep our workplaces safe?

Re: COVID Protocols Back
So why does Sinclair broadcast "Full Measure" with lies about Covid and the Covid vaccines IF now all the sudden their employees must mask-up? Oh, but they're not forcing their employees to get the vaccine like Disney O&O stations that will require it; IF Sinclair forced their employees to get the vaccine, that would be even more disgusting based on their misinformation campaign? Plain and simple, vaccine might not prevent you from getting it, but it does prevent you from getting put into a box 6 foot underground, unless you're in the 0.001% of breakthru cases.
Re: COVID Protocols Back
WOHO: if you ever decided to become a corporate leader at Sinclair Broadcasting, you’d be the one and only person with actual, quantifiable common sense.
Re: COVID Protocols Back
Boy, what a change a weekend makes. As of Friday, we weren’t required to wear masks. Then our GM sends out a note last night saying to ignore the “no mask” policy. We’re now in substantial community transmission and everyone at work — regardless of vaccine status — must now mask up.

And this is coming from a company who actively promotes anti-vax conspiracies!

Re: COVID Protocols Back
Interesting that even though Meredith’s days are numbered before the Gray TV sale is completed, yet they are requiring all staff to get the COVID vaccine.

Gray (WJRT’s current owner) only is requiring full vaccinations for future employees.

Re: COVID Protocols Back
Well that changed quickly… Gray announced that all employees need to be vaxxed by Oct. 1. Managers only have until Sept. 15. No shot, no job.
Gotta give them credit for being all in. WNEM employees will have to be vaccinated by the time Gray takes over in December.

Re: COVID Protocols Back
It is absolutely ridiculous that Sinclair continues to ignore the science and promotes disinformation…
While other broadcasters have made workplace safety a priority, 25-66 and the Corporate Death Star definitely have not.
12’s current owner (Allen Media) and former owner (Gray TV) as well as 5’s current owner (Meredith) and soon to be new owner (Gray TV) all require COVID vaccines as a condition of employment, we do not.
https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2021/ ... e-mandates
While companies should have the right to decide these issues, they should also follow the science and make decisions aimed at protecting its staff. At a time when we are back to in person work conditions while there is still high community transmission and we are expected to interview people in person and sell advertising to clients in person, why we as a company aren’t taking every opportunity to promote staff safety is beyond me. Sinclair’s decision to not mandate COVID vaccines shows how little it cares for its employees, clients or community.
The fact is not just my decision affects my health and safety. So does the decision of those I’m required to work around. For everyone thinking “just go get another job”, Sinclair is also refusing to release people from their contract even if they have medical concerns. They’re also not being flexible with work from home rules. Yet it will put up plastic tarps around the newsroom and claim it’s doing everything to protect us. How many more people need to become seriously ill (and yes, some even die at other Sinclair stations) in the course of covering a pandemic before Sinclair starts taking its responsibility to provide a safe working environment seriously? I’d love Jen, Neille, Cody, Jamie, Gary, Chris, Ashley or any of the management team to actually defend Sinclair’s lack of a vaccine mandate… instead of their usual stance of silence or saying it’s not their decision/blame corporate.

Re: COVID Protocols Back
I think sinklair is having a conversation with himself.
Re: COVID Protocols Back
Luke: you’re probably right… and it’s still a better conversation than I’ve had with 25-66’s management
Re: COVID Protocols Back
Nexstar also doesn't have a mandate but isn't Sinclair & Nexstar have to do it since they are a company that has over 100 people working for them from the president's mandate that workers need to get the vaccine?
