Did Michael Estime just 'jump the shark'??

Unread post by km1125 »

Just saw a little feature clip by Michael Estime from Fox2. It was about the thinning ice on the Great Lakes.

Problem is, all the data they used just compared the trend from the 70's till now. Everyone knows the 70's were a 'micro' ice age. Of course we're warmer and have less ice than then.

Here's the clip:

Sometimes you’re working with what data you have. How much data is available before the 70’s in terms of thickness and coverage?

I'd bet there's plenty of data on the Great Lakes going back into the 1880s, of not much earlier. They were the primary transportation mode of that era.

But accurate measurements of surface Ice thickness and coverage on par with what the satellites that went into service starting in the 70’s give us?
