Just saw a little feature clip by Michael Estime from Fox2. It was about the thinning ice on the Great Lakes.
Problem is, all the data they used just compared the trend from the 70's till now. Everyone knows the 70's were a 'micro' ice age. Of course we're warmer and have less ice than then.
Here's the clip:

Did Michael Estime just 'jump the shark'??
Re: Did Michael Estime just 'jump the shark'??
Sometimes you’re working with what data you have. How much data is available before the 70’s in terms of thickness and coverage?km1125 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 3:31 pm Just saw a little feature clip by Michael Estime from Fox2. It was about the thinning ice on the Great Lakes.

I'd bet there's plenty of data on the Great Lakes going back into the 1880s, of not much earlier. They were the primary transportation mode of that era.Rate This wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 3:55 pmSometimes you’re working with what data you have. But accurate measurements of surface Ice thickness and coverage on par with what the satellites that went into service starting in the 70’s give us?km1125 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 7:50 pmI'd bet there's plenty of data on the Great Lakes going back into the 1880s, of not much earlier.
