The basic tenant of climate science, such as that anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions increases globally-averaged temperatures overtime, is extremely well understood. The primary unanswered questions revolve around local-to-regional impacts of climate change, and the degree to which warming from anthropogenic emissions is offset by aerosols, clouds, and the evolution of natural sinks to greenhouse gases.

That's a matter of policy, not science. Just like every government has their own approach to managing the ongoing pandemic, there are many ways to manage climate change. We can use our best science to predict the efficacy of the policies towards achieving goals sought out by policy makers.
